Netflix Teen TV shows

Most of understand that Buffy the Vampire Slayer (March 10, 1997 – May 20, 2003) was written so that adults could enjoy it as well. I was age 39 when it debuted.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a more simpleminded TV show (September 27, 1996 – April 24, 2003) that was on about the same time frame, but had little or no appeal to adults. Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a comic book series published by Archie Comics and she first appeared on Oct. 1962.

The "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" released the entire first season on Netflix , consisting of 10 episodes, on October 26, 2018. The actress, Kiernan Brennan Shipka, will be age 19 on November 10, but she plays a witch on the eve of her 16th birthday in the series.

I am increasingly reminded that media meant primarily to appeal to 15-16 year old is getting more and more adult. Nevertheless I am still shocked when I see her TV cousin fall into gay sex after saying about 10 sentences to the other boy.

The media has been trying to normalize being gay for a generation. Just getting more blatant.

I stopped watching Ozark because it can't stop showing gay guys. It was otherwise an OK show, but gotta shove the agenda.

Libs in Hwood. They see and deal with
Gay men all the time because there
are so many in Calif. Gay men make up
1%-2% of the population, but I guarantee
TV writers in Calif think it's 35%. So
they include them in all their shows.

When I had the cab, I used to ask Black
passengers how much of the country was
Black. It was 12%, but not one of them was
ever close. They guessed 30%-50% because
in their hoods, all they saw was Blacks. In
Calif you run into a Gay guy every time you
turn around.

The actress that plays Sabrina is supposed to be a virgin, something which shouldn't be shocking for a girl who just turned 16. But Ambrose and Luke are portrayed by actors who are age 22 and 29. Their age in the TV show is over age 70, as they are warlocks and don't age like mortals.

But while heterosexual sex is shown in some TV shows that are designed around teenagers, there is usually some measure of discussion first. When the characters first meet and, they are almost immediately ripping clothes off, is not usually shown in teen shows. But, it seems OK if it is gay sex.

The other thing is this #Me-Too mindset seems to have permeated TV shows aimed at kids. In the show, the worst characteristic of Satan, the Dark Lord, in his "goat-like" form, is that he is a "man".

I have watched almost all of that series.

There are heterosexual acts among the adults, and an orgy among the teens as well.

So for that show, it is OK if it is any kind of sex, not just gay sex.

The religion on the show that the witch/warlock characters follow is not watered down Satanism, it is pretty full-blown. It isn't a casual nod and a wink to devil worshipers who are really good people, they are devil worshipers who do some really "bad" things. The witch/warlock characters do not pretend to operate with a christian moral code, and that includes Ambrose and Luke.

Sabrina doesn't like it, either. The moral lessons of the show are coming from Sabrina and her high school friends, not from the magic-wielding adults.

Will I regret it if I try watching this? I was
reading a critique of Nflix that said what
they're doing is throwing anything and
everything at the wall to see what sticks.
If they turn down an idea for a series, mark
that day on the calendar.

Jack Thomas Chick (April 13, 1924 – October 23, 2016) was an American cartoonist and publisher, best known for his evangelical fundamentalist Christian "Chick tracts", which presented his perspective on a variety of issues through sequential-art morality plays. Considering their feelings about Bewitched, Dark Shadow, Dungeons and Dragons, and Harry Potter they must be going into overdrive about this series.

Chick tracts are great to laugh at, people
collect them. There are thousands.

Saw the first 3 eps, am liking it so far.
Very camp, I can't take my eyes off
the sets. The Victorian house with
all the weird furnishings, all the
cool lamps and furniture. The HS
built around 1910 with ceiling
fixtures and lockers and classrooms
right out of the 40's. The Library is
fantastic, haven't seen one like that
since I was a kid in the 50's.

The few cars we've seen are all early
60's, the one phone I saw was a black
wall dial phone. A plastic radio from
the 50's, no TV's anywhere. Webster
the lawyer lives like a recluse in a 30's
movie, surrounded by stacks of mags
and newspapers piled to the ceiling.
The year is supposed to be ambiguous,
which is really kind of brilliant. They
can get away with a lot by not sticking
it in a specific period. Even the way
they dress has no period feel to it.

Lots of cool stuff here, somebody went
to a heck of a lot of trouble and expense
to make the mood just right. At times
it's as good as a 60's Disney movie. It
had to take a lot of time to locate all
the props and build the sets. Good work.

The story is somewhat silly and drawn
out so far, it's the sets that are carrying
it for me, and the acting is pretty good.
There is subtle humor, tongue in cheek,
trying not to take itself too seriously. Lots
of Buffy here, little blond girl is the center
of attention, an evil HS principal, she has
her own gang of Scoobies fighting
injustice. The devil is after Sabrina/Buffy,
there are no vamps, but there is plenty
of hoblin goblin dress up. and Satan hiding
behind every bush,

They already have season 2 in the can, they
were pretty confident this will be watched.
I'm watching it, and I hate most everything.
This could go 5 seasons if they get better
writers.

The guy who created and writes on the show,
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, has produced an
amazing amount of work in his 44 years.
He's an Archie comic book writer and has
the series Riverdale, which I've never seen.

And of course he's Gay. That's why we saw
the Gay scene, I knew Black that guy was Gay,
who else walks around in a robe all day.

Halfway thru the season, the plot is a
little thin. Everybody wants her to go
to Ersatz Hogwarts but I can't figure
out why. She's the daughter of this
Spellman guy, so that makes her
important? She's kinda ditzy, Buffy
she ain't. Buffy was fearless, that
was her appeal.

Is this how Gay men see women? All
the females in this show are cunning
and conniving and mostly not nice to
each other. The men are wimpy, even
the head of Hogwarts isn't very
intimidating. The women are scary,
I don't like any of them. Even Sabrina
hard to like. The only character I care
what happens to is the Gay guy who
can't leave the house. He's actually
likable and even headed and genuine.

We'll see. I have a feeling this is going
to spin off into silliness because it has
no solid core story. After 5 eps I only
vaguely know what it's about, besides
how bitchy all the females can be to
each other.
