Wizard Administrator Member since: Oct 23, 2012 Threads: 239 Posts: 6095 | For those who haven't heard, some radio stations are banning the song Baby, It's Cold Outside. The song tells the story of a woman trying to leave a man's home and the man trying to coax her into staying. Some would argue, too forcefully and not taking "no" for an answer. The gender roles can also be reversed. Here is a video showing two renditions of the song. Direct: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MFJ7ie_yGU For more on the controversy, here is just one of what seem to be hundreds on the topic: Radio station stops playing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" after listeners voice concerns about lyrics in #MeToo era With the introduction out of the way, what is your opinion on this. I'm especially interested in the female point of view. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

If we waited around for women to make all the decisions, nothing would get done. Some famous feminist has even said if there were no men, humans would still be living in grass huts and hunting and gathering. Women can't agree on anything, so progress never happens. If we didn't try and coax a woman into bed, we would never get laid. What they want changes from minute to minute. Go ahead, ban the song. Men are already avoiding women like the plague, big companies are not hiring them in droves. Too many headaches now. Babs even agreed with me yesterday that most women are predatory. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

The snowflake culture continues. They wait to be offended. They find a reason to ban anything that they think has some kind of hidden message. Don't these people have jobs to go to? The President is a fink. |

Pacomartin Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 1068 Posts: 12569 | The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, is inappropriate in 2018 since Hamlet is such a misogynist. Hamlet: Lady, shall I lie in your lap? Ophelia: No, my lord. Hamlet: I mean my head upon your lap. Ophelia: Aye, my lord. Hamlet: Or did you think I meant country matters? Ophelia: I think nothing, my lord. (Note in 1600 the word "nothing" was slang for the "big o" or a woman's sex organs) Hamlet: That's a fair thought, to lie between maid's legs. We have to really dig deep to remove all of this stuff from our culture. |

Do you really think we should rewrite history to remove everything that doesn't meet our modern sensibilities Paco? I think that we are getting scary close to 1984's ministry of truth with constantly trying to erase our past. "but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin |

I watch old moves on TCM which have plenty of problematic content. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |
