Why is that? I recently made: hibiscus tea with fermented ants, ramen with parsley and cumin, tunafish with separated mayonnaise, cucumber water. |

And you made his point perfectly.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Ayecarumba Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 89 Posts: 1744 | Supposedly, beef is dangerous, not just because of the effects of antibiotics, growth hormones, and artery clogging fat on consumers, but more importantly the water and plant resources used to produce it are a waste compared to the energy content of the final food product, and the CO2 and CH4 (methane) the herds produce contribute to global warming which could kill everything on the Earth. I have a hard time believing there are that many steers on the Earth. Weren't there more wild buffalo for millenia? |

I read that the average wind turbine generator never produces the energy it already took to build and set it up. From mining the steel, processing it, and all the other components, getting it to the site, has already used up more energy than the turbine will ever produce. That's why they're all subsidized, they couldn't make a profit on their own. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Would it? My salad bars tend to have more types of greens than the old simple lettuce salads of old. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

While you may have read that, I read it isn't true. https://planetsave.com/2018/06/03/wind-turbines-use-more-energy-than-they-produce-the-myth-that-wont-die/ "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan |

Fleastiff Member since: Oct 27, 2012 Threads: 62 Posts: 7831 | Why are the posters here trying to undermine my confidence in my culinary skills? Hibicus tea comes from a tea bag, millions of people drink it. Tuna fish comes from a can, millions of people eat it. Maayonaise comes from a jar, millions of people buy them. Ramen comes frm a package, millions of them are sold in the usa. Parsley is used in millions homes and restaurants. Cumin is a spice so valuable that a silk road merchant who lost even a half-measure could be fined six goats or executed. So why are you all aligned against me? I risked my life meeting more known international terrorists than everyone on this forum combined has ever met. I sacrificed my lungs and my liver for my country. When attacked by a foreign power I suffered brain and cardiac injuries from which I will never recover. Now I live in a county poorhouse, only have access to a crappy Seminole casino, can get there only occasionallyand its rare when I can buy in for more than twenty dollars so its constant risk of ruin for me. I survived several attepts on my life only to wind up eating food bank leftovers and you people have to malign my attempts to make the inedible junk not taste so bad. |

petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | I tried to read your link, but couldn't even finish it, it was so biased. "How extraordinary that so many wind turbines would be bought and paid for by industry if they actually consume more energy than they produce! " Is there even one windmill in America that you are aware of that was purchased by private enterprise without federal subsidies? "yes indeed, some energy is consumed in manufacturing a wind turbine and in constructing the pylon that supports it. It also found the typical wind turbine will generate enough electricity to offset the energy consumed to create it in about 7.5 months or less." Absurd After these latest forest fires in California, this is a fantastic opportunity to make that part of the state "renewable energy", by requiring each rebuilt home or business to have either solar or wind power to provide the needs of the inhabitants. Somebody should be required to walk the walk, instead of just talk the talk. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

You don't actually belief that drivel do you Dale? Quoting some "study" without providing the study details is typical for those left wing nut sites. 7 months payback doesn't even come close to passing the smell test when it takes longer than that to construct one. My rule of thumb on any of this is that if it needs to be subsidized to be profitable then the math probably doesn't work on the energy level either.
