I've heard a lot about thus show and maybe should give it a try. I don't like depressing shows that much, but I do lije shows that deliever a moral, lesson, or something to think about. Wiz, you would suggest starting in the 4th season?

Although you didn't ask me - the seasons are only 4-6 episodes long - might as well start with season 1 and go for it Padre

Padre, Black Mirror is depressing. A common theme is how advances in technology have a dark side. A common theme is the ability to digitize the soul, for lack of a better term. You might think that would be a good thing, because you could never get sick and would never die, but it only presents a whole new set of problems. In episode 1 of Season 4, one character digitally cloned his workmates, via DNA they left on coffee cups or what not, and made them his slaves in a game based on Star Trek.

However, the show does give a lot to think about. I'd be interested in your thoughts on it. Yes, I said start with the 4th season. By then, the show is more polished and has more of a purpose.

If you want to start out with a soft easy episode, San Junipero would make a good choice.

Babs has requested I provide a list of "safe" (non-"torture porn") Black Mirror episodes -- off the top of my head, the following come to mind:

San Junipero
Hang the DJ
Nosedive
White Christmas
White Bear

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by those episodes - enjoy!

Think of the great Norman Fell looking into the camera after he delivers a zinger on Three's Company

I don't get it. Ozzie Nelson talked into the
camera all the time, so did The Office
and Modern Family and lots of others.
So what.

Here is my list. These have some dark themes, but there is nothing extremely graphic in them. In parenthesis are the season and episode number.

Be Right Back (2/1) -- Look for the actor who played Caleb in Ex Machina as the robot, if I can use that term.
White Christmas (2014 special) -- Look for John Hamm (from Mad Men) in this one.
Nosedive (3/1) -- I think this is my daughter's favorite episode. It's about a world in the near future were everybody can rank everyone they see and everyone is judged by their ranking, so everybody goes around being nice, but in a phony way, to get good rankings.
San Junipero (3/4) -- We've already discussed this one.
USS Calister (4/1) -- Look for the actor who played the nice kid on Friday Night Lights, and the very evil one who thought nothing of killing people on Breaking Bad, as the villain in this one. I think this might be my favorite in the whole show.
Hang on DJ (4/4) -- This is about a dating service with a 99% success rate. I won't blow how it works.

Based on both mine and Ace's lists, I think the first two I would try would be Hang the DJ and Nosedive.

White Christmas is also rather safe, but it is more like a movie than a typical episode. Not a good one to use as an example of the whole series.

Oh, and a question for OD -- If someone threw a cup of tea over his computer would that mean:

A) He flung the tea over the monitor
B) He poured the tea on the keyboard
C) Other (explain)
