Norwegian's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner went from New York’s JFK Airport to London’s Gatwick in 5 hours and 13 minutes. It beat British Airways' 2015 record by three minutes and outpaced the standard crossing by half an hour.
An unusually strong jet stream has been pushing jets to ground speeds over 800 mph, an all-time record.

United's B757 flights out of Newark in January 2012 had a lot of trouble returning to the USA under an unusually strong jet stream. They had to make emergency refueling stops in Canada. The green line shows 3200nm from Newark.

What are the conditions for this record, and why does it not belong to a Concord?

The Concorde flew JFK to LHR in 2 hr 52 min 59 sec on 24 October 2003.
I should have said 5 hours 13 minutes is a record time for a subsonic commercial aircraft.

reliability is important. it looks like these fast but subsonic flights will be dandy provided diversions are kept to a minimum.

How fast could a jumbo jet fly? Is Mach 1 possible?

As any road cyclist will confirm, a strong tailwind is a lot of fun but it's not worth the price if you need to finish where you started.

The B787 is capable of Mach 0.9, with a typical cruising speed of Mach 0.85
The 747-8: 0.9, cruise 0.855
747 "classic" max 0.92, max cruise 0.855, typical cruise a little slower for better economy

A380: 0.89/0.85
B777 0.89 or 0.87, cruse 0.84

Pushing the envelopes of safety and performance, it is possible for those planes to go supersonic. A dive might be required to get there.
At that point, though, you start to have the 'breaking the sound barrier' control and shockwave problems that they had when first developing supersonic aircraft.

and you could also overstress the airframe and break up.

Unless it is constant and you can circumnavigate the globe.

Mach 1 is possible in a death defying dive, but normally airspeed can't get to Mach 1.
But we are talking about groundspeed here, as the plane is riding a strong tailwind.
