Both were from around 1979 or so when I was 7 or 8 years old.

That was about the age I was when I was watching a scary movie out in the garage at night. Scared the hell out of me.

But I also got freaked out about the same time watching a medical show where a girl is described as swallowing her tongue (seizure). This caused some issues with a fear that somehow my tongue was going to fly backwards and get stuck in my throat.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Yeah, as a child I got spooked by some actual "real-life" things as well. Saw something on TV around that age that I'm guessing was the removal of a bot-fly larvae from a guy's face. Got extremely anxious about every mosquito bite for quite a while after that!

One of the freakiest intense things I remember as a kid was the guy dressed in black with the horse drawn cage rounding up children in the movie "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". What the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks is a human trafficker doing in a "family" film?

Has anyone put Pet Semetery on this list yet? That movie is crazy scary!

+1 to this. As someone who ingests all manner of questionable materials, parasite shows are always a tough watch. Erupting worms, I think, are top of the fear list. Not that I actively fear them here in NY, but it's still a "F#$% that" and change the channel type of situation lol
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

Not as scary as some dead guy
rising from the dead like a zombie
and people worshiping him. That
is truly scary on so many levels.
Am very glad it's just a myth from
days when people didn't know any
better.

There is a scene in the 2004 Dawn of the Dead, where a full-term pregnant woman gets infected with the zombie virus. So, they shoot her, in the head as I recall. However, the unborn baby then gets infected and rips its way out of the mother's body. Despite getting an R rating, I heard they had to tone down the scene in the editing room. You hardly actually saw anything, but just the thought of it gives me the shivers.

Why this kind of crap is entertaining to people
is a mystery to me.

It's fun to get scared. Who doesn't like a little safe adrenaline rush?

I mostly mean the Zombie stuff. It
does nothing for me. At least the
Vampire junk has a little sophistication
to it. Interview With a Vampire was
one of the scariest movies I ever saw.
