Californication I got about three episodes in and all I could handle..

Californication gets way good. I love the
Hank Moody character, I want to be
Hank Moody. He really doesn't care
about anybody but himself, and he's
very entertaining doing it. The whole
show is about him on a learning curve.
Very clever writing, and a great job
by David Ducovney.

Madmen was good for one time thru.
By the end I really didn't like the
main character at all. The thought
of watching him selfishly ruin the
lives of everybody around him again
makes me stay away from viewing
it a second time.

Breaking Bad I can see if I FF thru
every scene that his wife and kid
are in. Then it's OK.

I just spoke to our best trial attorney (who is 70 years old and also from Long Island) about the upcoming “intervention” for the protege and he said it will not work, that he will do exactly what he has always done and the Owner will let it slide — he said this “intervention” is just a show to make everyone think something will get done

Why would it work, why would he
change. Everyone in your office is
replaceable with people that will
kiss his ass and do what he wants.
He's a partner, he's not going
anywhere.

I was typing out a response to the upcoming intervention when it dawned on me what's going on with protege.

Ace, I think what's going on here is, protege is seeking a friend. That's why he picked you. If you don't mind that, and would like to stay working there, go have a light hearted lunch with the guy and ask how his life is going? Try some good ole man to man chat. He could be seeking a confidante thinking that it won't be long and he will be running the company when the now owner cease's?

He's not trying to fire you, he's trying to bond.

THE PROTEGE CANCELED HIS OWN DAMN INTERVENTION!!!

Apparently, somehow, someway, that I am sure only the gods understand, the Owner put protege in charge of booking the psychologist to appear today WTF!!!
Protege "forgot" to book the psychologist, as such, we are going to try again next week sometime
Meanwhile, everyone predicted that protege would do this -- he walked around here all day quiet and smug
Time to freshen up the resumé

He holds all the cards, this whole thing
is ridiculous. I would cancel it too if I
was him. He wants his shop run his
way, find a place to work
with a better attitude.

I watched MM more than once as so much happened it was easy to miss some stuff. The beauty to MM was they did not try to hide what the 1960s was. Lots of smoking and drinking. Business was both clubby and used "scientific" management. Marketers did not want their product associated with Black customers. Wives popping diet pills. New York culture dominated but California rising, even though California was and still is Detroit with palm trees.

It was another of the modern shows where everyone was flawed and nobody was a classic hero.

I foolishly bought DVD's after the
first 3 seasons. A couple years ago
I tried watching from the start and
realized I disliked Don Draper so
much I couldn't get thru the first ep.
It was interesting the first time, but
now I know the ending, so all of it
is kind of depressing.

It would be neat if someone did a similar concept based around the 1970s. Different industry so it is not just a copy. But same way of having the times tie in with the show. MM really did feel different as the 1960s wore on. So much more businesslike in the first season, so much more casual the last.

I made it 10 minutes into Ep. 1 and turned it off
