If they want to even the field they should make the questions easier not harder. However he would still have a buzzer skill advantage. That advantage has now been honed with hours of practice.

It's kind of unfair. His buzzer skills
get better with every show and the
people he plays against have none.

He does show some signs of humanity. In one game he bet $8,400 (all of his money) on the 18th Answer (3rd level of difficult out of 5)
In 1903 Maurice Garin was its first winner in 94 hours, 33 minutes, 14 seconds

James guessed "What is Paris to Dakar? instead of the
What is the Tour de France

The agressive bet and the wrong answer meant that he barely recovered into second place at the end of the first round.
Kevin $4,400
James $2,800
Megan $1,200

The above mistake was a rare moment of weakness. James has been ahead after the first round 25 of 29 episodes, and he is been ahead after the second round 29 of 29 episodes. He has had a lock on winning after the second round 26 of 29 times.

In the 'mountain climbing with the Wizard' thread, Michael points out one question H. got wrong was a badly worded clue; his answer should have been accepted perhaps. That certainly happens.

Sometimes they get it totally wrong, I remember one time [as an example] when the correct response was "key limes" and the clue indicated it was a larger type lime. That is false, key limes are small, smaller than the typical lemon, which they are more like than a lime as well btw.

I think one of the funniest controversies last year was the contestant who called the song "Gangster's Paradise". Alek ruled him correct, but the judges came in later and said he got it wrong as it should have been "Gangsta's Paradise".

Coolio provided this helpful observation about AAVE: "This is for white people. The ‘e-r’ will always get you in trouble.”

Jennings said on Monday that he learned about the end of Holzhauer’s streak when he attended a “Jeopardy!” taping in early April. The news was traveling around in the “Jeopardy!” community even before that, he said.

So this was actually months ago? I
thought it was in real time.

James gave up tonight. His daughter gave Alex a get well card, his wagers were not winners.

He took a dive.

It almost seems like it since he didn't really seem to play his game.

I found the results of the game but without a date a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was the current night and told my wife he was done. Then he was still playing and I was confused and couldn't find the site again.
