Not a whole travelogue or anything, but if you have a
chance, the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is very nice,
well maintained, clean, etc.

A couple of attractions that are off the beaten path
but very cool.

A short drive from the Falls:

Walk Along the Rapids

and

A longer drive from the Falls ( 1/2 hour to get to
the site on Niagara-on-the-Lake:

"Jet" Boat Ride

Do they require a passport now to go into
and out of the US into CA?
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Passport books, passport cards, and enhanced driver licenses are all accepted by Canada and the US.

My state doesn't offer the enhanced driver's license option, so this spring
we finally got all the paperwork together in one place and got the wife
and kids their passports. ( I already hade one through work ).

The turn-around time was very quick, which was pleasantly surprising.
I wonder if the state of turmoil in the world, coupled with the slow
economy, has cut down on the number of applications being submitted.
It wasn't inexpensive.

I think the Maid of the Mist boat ride is far more interesting and fun than the Jet Boat ride. I prefer the Cave of the Winds, too.

Also, if you're a sportsman, you cannot miss the opportunities available. At this time of year (Oct-Nov) the Niagara River Gorge, as well as the surrounding tributaries, offer world class Salmon and Trout fishing. Some of the local holes are rated top 3 in the world. A few hundred bucks will get you a guide and applicable permits and you can spend an evening in the amazing gorge hauling in steelies, browns, coho and kings. If you have so much as an iota of interest in fishing, even if you just want to rekindle a spark from the last time you went at the age of 6, one set on a 30+lb king will stamp an indelible mark on your soul that you will remember the rest of your life. If you have a kid/s, please, bring him or her along.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

Hey, no question that the Maid of the Mist is a tried
and true classic tourist attraction. Put on a blue poncho
and enjoy the mist as the boat putters up to the base
of the falls.

Now the JETBOAT on the otherhand, is a wave-skipping,
360 degree turning, sledge hammer of cold water
pounding you on the chest thrill ride.

So I gotta go with the JETBOAT as the winner of the
FUN category.
