On top of that, the entitled generation of boomers want no part in helping raise grandkids like their parents did for them.

WHAT?? Are you kidding me? Grandkids
now are sucking the life out of their
grandparents! Never saw anything like it
when I was a kid. I see ADULT grandkids
living in their grandparents basements.
I see tons of Boomers parents with their
kids in their 40's who have kids, living
with the grandparents.

You NEVER saw this when I was a kid
in the 50's and 60's, not like you do
now. 'Entitled Boomer's' my ass.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/more-millennials-are-living-at-home-than-at-any-other-time-this-century/

" 22 percent of people ages 23 to 37 now living with their folks from 11.7 percent of people the same ages back in 2001."

Boomer generation meet Boomerang generation.

Can't be right, gamerfreak says 'entitled'
Boomers are ignoring their kids and
grandkids.

lol relax, I threw that in there semi-joking because I knew it would get a bunch of people here all riled up.

I even said I have no clue what the trend really is. I doubt anyone does beyond anecdotal information, I don’t think that type of statistic is tracked by anyone

I take these things case by case. If they are kicking in cash or labor to help I have no issue. Older folks with a house too big offering a room. If they have a mid-life crash (divorce, etc) and are working their tail off and the family offers help fine with that. I knew a grown man who had to move back in with his mother after a divorce and she threatened to break his hands if he touched the washing machine, ever. He worked full time, just needed to regroup.

OTOH, if it is kids who will not grow up, then yeah, problems. Just heard a call on Dave Ramsey. Guy was divorced 10 years ago, still could not get it together. Mom bought him a cheap mobile home for $10M and had him on a $100 a month plan, which he sometimes flaked on. She finally sold it. Says he's living in his car. Says he has had 2 DUIs. Says his kids and rest of family disowned him. That is a case of sucking the life out of your family.

and now you're trying to back out of
it.

This is coming to the rest of the world, just that Japan has a few things that make her get there first. Interesting that SK has an even lower birth rate. Japan might have taken Koreans in as guest workers, but SK will soon have their own problem.

A real issue is what happens as all the rich, productive countries fail demographically. You can import labor but you cannot get the societies that are poor to act advanced. Even China is really a poor country with half the population in poverty.

Sounds like you and your AP roulette system.

I’m not backing out of anything. I’ll stick to boomers being a generation of entitled snowflakes, but like I said 10 posts ago I really have no idea what the trend is concerning grandchild care.
