Yes there is very good drumming going on. Some of the greatest drumming is from the late sixties early seventies on the most basic kits. It's amazing how much they got out of a snare, tom tom, bass and a couple of cymbals. Santana's soul sacrifice from Woodstock (on youtube) is a great example. Terry Bozio who is top tier has maybe the largest kit anywhere today, it's ridiculous. Also on youtube.

I can't say I can rate all those drummers off the top of my head, but in general I totally agree that era was the pinnacle for drumming.
