I remember the movie of the week being big even in the 70s. Biggest problem was they jammed the commercials. Who remembers how they had a "bump" after the commercials saying "Back to the show" usually with cuts of a movie camera and things. They would run like 4-5 commercials and you thought you were done because they showed the bump, but that was a "warning bump" saying they would be back "soon" and you had 1 more commercial to deal with.

I remember back then I'd hear "We'll be right back after station identification" which to my young brain was synonymous with commercial. Wasn't until maybe the 1980s watching a football game when they said that, and all the announcer said was the TV station's call letters, no commercial at all. Then back to the game. It finally clicked.

Even now if an NFL game goes over the top of the hour you will see the call letters and channel for a few seconds on the screen for FCC regs. On radio they do it between plays.

A few years back I texted a guy I was then friends with at exactly 7:00 with the "for those of you expecting to see '60 Minutes'....." line they gave on CBS. He gave a lol. It is like, "You guys have been giving this line for FIFTY YEARS! Does anyone not know when 60 Minutes comes on or are there 100 people in the USA tuning in not watching the game?"

I didn't know Robert Conrad had
a career as a singer before he
was an actor.

I stumbled on this and said I'll
watch 5min of it, and I watched
the whole thing. He was 87
when he did this one man show
and it was a sell out for the
over 100 performances it ran.
It's the story of his life, and
it's very good. He had a pretty
bad home life as a kid, I'm
amazed he could talk about
it so candidly. I doubt if there
was a dry eye in the house
for some of it.
Nobody will watch it, but
if you do be aware the woman
he calls onstage is his wife.
Looks way younger than her
early 60's years.
I grew up seeing Orsen Bean,
he was on Carson over 200
times.

I had no idea who Orson Beene was until he just came on TV in an episode of Two and a Half Men that my wife was watching.
