As you probably know, WoV has a suspension list and DT does not. After seeing how suspensions divide the forum at WoV, I chose to not have one here. However, as evidenced by a discussion at WoV, there are costs to not having one and benefits with one, as follows:

  • Members on suspension can quickly find out why.
  • It gives the entire board a feeling for what is not allowed.
  • It is very convenient for mods to keep track of lifting suspensions and applying the Martingale rule.
  • As a rule of thumb, I support public shaming as part of the punishment.

That said, what is your position on creating a suspension list here? One vote only.

I think our group here is small enough that we are all aware of what is going on and it is not required.

I nodded off, could you repeat
the question?
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Just a suspension thread should cut it.

Thank you for the comments thus far.

I guess we don't have enough suspensions here to need a thread to discuss them. We can always add it later if we feel it necessary.

I'm leaning in favor of making the list. Who will have the dishonor of getting the first public suspension?

How about a "statute of limitations" for suspensions for offenses? If a member was not suspended within ---days?, ----weeks?, ---months?, etc, of a post, no suspension will be given.

I'm a strong NO, but a more biased opinion you could not obtain. Of the irritating parts of this position, that list is solidly #1, or at least the lengthy tome of WoV's is. There's nothing I hate more about the site than navigating and editing that bleeding list lol.

Objectively, one place we're failing hard is length of suspension. A list I suppose would help with that, but if a list gets nixed, we should still pursue improvement in that area.

I say no to the suspension list. Maybe just send the person a private message letting them know they are suspended.
