The mortality rate for the seasonal flu is usually around 0.1%
For the Spanish flu, it was estimated at 2.5%, and it also hit in a second phase late in the summer.

finally found this for Virginia, showing where the plague has hit in the state. This sort of thing eluded me till now even though I've been looking for it. Yes I've been calling it The Plague.

I am curious if Mike is buying indexed funds or stock picks. Boeing with a 52 week high of $398.66 is now selling at $104.22.

Some investors are buying in under the too important to fail theory.

Based on their actions they DESERVE (as a company) to fail. They had a position of trust and totally betrayed it.

In reality, I was wondering last night (reinforced after reading some of these posts), about their level of importance. They make the President's planes, for example.

Are they "too important to fail"?

Donny goes spewing nonsense on live TV and the stock market tanks, triggering a 15 minute halt.

Here is my prediction:
2,000 to 3,000 American casualties. That's about as many Americans who die of all causes in 10 to 12 hours.

Unless the virus plays out substantially differently in the USA than in Italy, this prediction is probably incorrect.

Italy already has 2,503 deaths (and USA's population is 5 times bigger than Italy's.)

New York City currently has 2,300 cases.

The epicenter of Italy's outbreak is the province of Lombardy. Lombardy's population density is about 1,100 people per square mile. In Manhattan NYC, the population density is 70,000 people per square mile. I'm skeptical that social distancing will be effective in Manhattan. Perhaps it's time to close the NYC subway?

The Defense Production act has just been invoked so now the government can order factories what to produce.

This is a good move.

It will allow a streamline of medical device production
