Do you have access to a small vendor stand? You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

I see and hear them every year, bar none. Perhaps this “every X years” thing refers to a population explosion, and not simply their existence? Either way, I love them. They’re a true harbinger of summer; once you hear them, you know you’re in the thick of the good weather season. The only thing that sucks is hitting one on your bike. It’s like hitting a sparrow, only splatter-y-er =) Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

There are different types of cicadas on different cycles. There are 7 year and 10 year cicadas. The Brood X (Brood 10) has the longest cycle at 17 years. Since they are the longest cycle it follows that they are the largest number. Cicadas have no defense mechanism and must saturate their predators. The birds and dogs and anything else must reach the point where they can't eat any more. The longer the cycle the more saturation must take place to give them the best chance of mating and surviving as a species underground for another 17 years. |
