Maybe you could tell me what passage or theme in Grapes of Wrath makes it communist so I don't have to guess.

Are you kidding me?

"It was just as widely panned by business and government officials who took umbrage at its socialist overtones and denounced it as “communist propaganda”.

Stalin even used it as pro
communism propaganda.

On Travels with Charley:

Mr. Steigerwald estimates that Steinbeck spent no more than a couple of nights in the camper itself, and says, “Virtually nothing he wrote in ‘Charley’ about where he slept and whom he met on his dash across America can be trusted.”
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

So some business and government officials at the time called in communist. I disagree.
So Stalin found a depiction of an impoverished and abused group of people in the heart of western capitalism useful propaganda. That doesn't make the book communist.

Read it. That's all you have to do.
It's not just commie, its sickeningly
commie and anti capitalism. It
can't be read any other way.

I’ve read it. Guess I didn’t make that clear.

I read it in HS. Then I read
it again 10 years ago and
didn't even finish it. The
agenda its pushing is blatant.

Loving the RV life
Last few nights in a rural area RV campground.
Was definitely in Trump country. Gas station selling Trump and confederate flags
Did a lengthy tow, 2 1/2 hours. Getting pretty comfortable towing a lot more weight.
Getting crummy gas mileage but that's to be expected. 11 MPG uggh
Gonna cost me a fortune to tow this to the west coast
Seems the the best MPG is when going 50 to 55 when flat. Transmission in highest 6 gear
If I go 65 to 70 which is typical, it drops to 5th gear to get more power and hence less MPG.
Towing, I dont speed to be safe, maximum is speed limit for me.
Just arrived in Tallahassee. Gonna see some sites here.

If you estimate your gas usage between stations, you could reduce some more weight by only filling your tank enough to make the next gas stop.

Check out the state capital as a phallic symbol.

Depending on which way you leave Tallahasse, there are lots of rolling hills. Not sure if that's the best route for towing. I always liked driving it in my car, but I wasn't towing.

Would never be worth the hassle. Most you could save would be 50lbs or so. Half of what you save you would probably waste getting off the highway to go to the gas station.

Towing kills mileage.

Channeling my inner EvenBob.... but complaining about how much it costs to move your RV around means you aren't ready for the costs? Gas is at an inflation adjusted low now..... Imagine if you were paying twice what it costs now like just a few years ago?

Back to the stimulus thread. Trump has just failed. Extending the bonus "I can get paid for not working even though there are millions of unfilled jobs" federal money, albeit at a slightly lower amount, is just a voter grab. So now the kid who was making $600 a week pre-pandemic will be getting $300 from New York State and $400 from the feds, so $700 for sitting at home as opposed to $600 for going to work? Talk about continuing the disincentive to getting back to work. Eliminating the payroll tax just puts the social security system that much closer to insolvency. More propping up failing businesses by just printing more money will have long term negative consequences. We need a Republican President. Trump isn't one. That being said, his failure is much better than the 5 times worse proposal by the Pelosi led liberal losers. At least McConnell is attempting to hold the line on mortgaging our future.
