I enjoy drinking and would never give it up. So I learned to drink the same exact amount at the same exact time every day. Just enough, always the same booze, never any more and never any less. Works great for me.

Bob, among all your idiosyncrasies, this one has to rank near the top. Enjoy!

NOTE: its even further from the casino and from the Arcade!

What do you care, you have no
money for the casino.

It's hardly unusual, it's how people
used to drink. A guy would have
a beer after work and a couple on
Saturday afternoon. The office
worker would have a martini at
lunch and one when he got home.
Drinking was not a recreational
sport like it is now. Young people
did not binge drink till they pass
out like they do now. And then
wonder why their drinking is out
of control 10 years later.

When I was growing up in the 60's
alcoholism was not out of control
like it is now. You didn't get $10K
fines and lose your license for a
year like you do now. It was an
almost nothing charge. Then came
the 80's generation and it all
changed very quickly.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Congras on the ciggys, Face! That is quite an accomplishment, and I wish you continued success. You're probably past most of the physical cravings, no? And now just in the behavioral stage, trying to fill your time/hands with something else during all the times you would normally have a smoke.

Thanks!

If you peruse the "6mg butt kicking" thread, you'll see that the physical side is tempered. I (we've?) been using non-tobacco nicotine salts, and that's what I've used to "solve" that aspect. Based on the math, though, it would be a drop of ~400mg a day smoking to ~30mg a day with those salts, and I do notice... something... but... my head's mostly fixed again. Or at least on a real solid upswing. And if you've been in the s#$%, you know what that's like. There's nothing that can stop you. Whatever physical ills there are are immaterial, cuz you just got everything back.

Morning's are tough. It's nothing but reptile brain at that point, it seems, but I'm talking the moments of waking. By the time I'm sat up, everything's back to square. I haven't drank yet, so that's a wonder, but I'll just not drink if it comes to that. Eating is no problem, which was a surprise. After a bowl is nothing, after exercise is nothing, even fishing I didn't think about them. When I get on a heater writing, that's a big trigger. I've several times stormed to the garage only to exclaim "WTF am I doing, I don't smoke anymore!" lol. But there's only been about 3-4 times when I stated "I want a GD cigarette!" (and those times were political every f#$%ing time XD).

It has, so far, relative to all reports and opinions on the matter, been a complete cake walk. And the few times the brain starts to stray... hehe, as much as I wish I had a more noble reason, it's the memory of that f#$%ing kid beating me in that gd race that puts me instantly and immediately right into "F#$% that s@#$" mode and the craving is quashed in its tracks. Two freaking tenths; I will accept nothing less than coming back to beat him by 8. F#$% that noise.

.... probably need more work on the "behavioral" part lol =/

Furloughed and loving this Carona vacation
Just got my 1st unemployment deposit in my life
What a country, making good scratch not working. Loving it
So relaxed. I was always thinking about something at work that either stressed me or pissed me off
Now, none of those thoughts.

Yawn.. I've been doing whatever
I wanted every day for the last
20 years. I haven't owned an
alarm clock since the 80's.

I don't check DT much, so I'm late to this thread.

My wife and I are fine. We don't know of anyone in the area that got sick. Of course, every time I cough or sneeze, I wonder if that's the first sign. FYI: I'm not coughing or sneezing any more often that I had in the past, but...

We live in northern NJ, not far from NY City, but not that close either. Hearing about all the shit going on over there makes us try to avoid the news.

On the other hand, I keep up to date on the status in Vegas & Nevada. I have plans to come to Vegas at the end of May for #360VVX but I have a feeling I'm gonna cancel. Even if Vegas opens on 5/1, it seems unlikely that it will be back to anything resembling normal by the end of the month.

I'm still working at my main job - in the accounting office of a warehouse that sells supplies to the construction industry. Since construction isn't one of the forbidden industries, somebody has to supply them, so we're still open.

Business is down of course, but not as bad as one might think. We did have to close the retail/counter portion of the business to comply with the new rules. Customers call in their orders, and call when they arrive. Then an employee will bring the product out to them. Nobody comes into the building except employees. Even truckers bringing deliveries aren't allowed in.

We shortened hours, furloughed part of our staff and reduced hours on the remainder. My hours went from 45 to 40 per week, but my pay was dropped by about 30%. I'm still making more than I would collect on unemployment, and it gets me out of the house, so I can't really complain.

I also used to deal poker in a bar league. That ended on 3/12, a couple days before the state shut down. I had to argue with the owner of the league that I thought it was time to stop. He threatened to use other dealers. In the end, since I and 4 other dealers (out of the 7 total that work for him) were unified in our refusal to work, he relented and agreed to shut down. While we never used the word 'mutiny', it came close.

My wife works for a non-profit. She started working from home a couple weeks before the lockdown began. Recently, her salary was also reduced. Frankly, I'm surprised they are still operating at all.

We've got some savings and retirement money we can tap into, but hopefully, things will get back to normal before we need to tap into them much.

We've been playing poker every night in a play money tournament on PokerStars with some family and friends, so that keeps the poker / gambling itch somewhat under control.

So that's my status. Stay safe everyone.

I miss Vegas. 😕

A few days ago, got my 1st ever unemployment direct deposit, 600.00 due to the Care act
I thought it kind of weird that I only got the fed part but not Florida's 275 minus taxes.
I expected a combined sum but I guess that's not how it works
Today I did get the FL unemployment via paper check. Kind of weird, Fed direct deposit when I supplied bank info via Florida unemployment web site yet FL sends a paper check.
In the news the FL online unemployment system is a total clusterfu**
I'm actually quite impressed. Furloughed Apr 13. Went into the system and got to submit my claim with pending status. I go online the next day, approved status. Maybe because I work for a massive company that the system recognized. I have a feeling major employers sent over social security numbers advising the state they were not contesting the benefits as they can in normal times. My neighbor, a massage therapist works for herself, is supposed to be able to get some benefits but she cant get through the system.
anyway
Clearing 847.00 a week. Not bad and my company is paying for all my medical insurance
Enjoying life

Of course it is good for you, Ed! You are clearing more by not working than you were for working, correct?
From a policy perspective, does that make sense to you? Are you happy with your leaders who are that stupid to allow that? (Senate, House, and President?)
I'm not.

Do you think this would have made sense?
90% of first $500 a week.
50% of between $500 and $2000 a week.

So you make $1000 a week, you get TOTAL state and federal $700. Not bad for not working. But not just throwing money away willy nilly. Maximum $1450 a week.

NYS system is not as smooth as Florida.
Wife filled out on line form around 10am on Friday. Was told she would receive a phone call within 72 hours. Not within 3 business days. Even so, we waited until greater than 120 hours had passed without a call back, then tried to call. There is NO OPTION to even wait for a human to pick up! Just told to apply on line. Theoretically you can log in to her account and send at least a written request.... NOPE! So at this point there is no electronic way to ask what's up? No phone way to find out what's going on?
Dictator Cuomo said that he is aware of the problem but he has a limited number of staff. Gee, he was unable to anticipate the SECOND he closed most businesses that there would be a flood of requests? Really? Total, abject failure on his part.
How about, as a FREAKING minimum, change the recording to say that you will get a call back in the future, but not put an OBVIOUS LIE about 72 hours? And how about have an easy way to send an email to ask a question?

When challenged, he pathetically says, "Don't worry, you'll get all the money you would be due retroactively." Not, "Holy shit, I should have diverted more resources to this department when I closed the economy causing all the unemployment."

Pure Cuomo. Rant over.
