I am not sure being an AP since the 80s counts as work.

Why not? Consider the hours needed to be put in with no guarantee of anything.

I still remember a story from our 4th grade reader about a kid who gets into horse racing. Some uncle or something inherited a ton of money and daily went to the track. Asked to take the kid and the kid's dad encouraged it, assuming a losing day. But it was a winning day. Uncle explains handicapping and betting to show but says there is no excitement.

Kid decides he wants to be a bettor for a living, starting small. Betting to show. Eke out a living. After a year he collapses from exhaustion and the kid's dad tells the doc he should not be exhausted, all he does is hang out at the track. Kid add up all the time he spends there, six days a week, 10+ hour days. Realizes he gets no health insurance or vacation. Realizes he has a low paying job.

Yes, it is work. Same as day trading. Same as lots of things that look great and easy from the outsiders view.

I didn't start that till 12 years ago.
You sure get a lot wrong and jump
to a lot of conclusions. In the early
80's I owned a bar, in the mid 80's
I had a taxi company.

What did you don in the 90s?

Because it does not contribute to the economy (in most cases not even through taxes). It just makes money for the individual.

Trading invests in companies (which fund growth).
APs just siphons off money from casinos....

Still waiting on Nevada. I filed for unemployment on March 20th and my application has not been addressed yet. I have been hearing 5 to 6 weeks which I am getting close to now.

LOL

Notice how happy libbies are to be on the dole?? 😂😂

Unfortunately their goal is to be on the dole 365 days a year. 🙄

Are you “on the dole?”

Anyone notice how Shrek never posts anything personal about himself?

Does anyone here even know what he does for work, what his hobbies are, what part of the country he lives in, how old he is, etc.?

Seems like he’s just some anonymous ranter who comes here to post the word “libbies” 10,000 times a day and expects us to give a crap about his nonsensical tirades against those he disagrees with.

I did not want to be on the dole
I did everything to try to keep my job. I volunteered for graveyard shifts.
Got furloughed anyway but not surprised as most employees got furloughed anyway in my company
I was pretty shocked to get furloughed. 1st time ever in my life without a job
After the initial shock of being jobless but reviewing my personal economic status and the benefits I'm reaping, medical paid for and being on the lucrative dole, thrilled to be furloughed.
Its just a natural reaction, being happy to be paid for doing nothing due to circumstances beyond my control
Amazing this reaction gets under Shrek's skin. LOL

I find it ironic that all of the people who complain about people collecting UI (which is an earned benefit) briefly while furloughed are all of the old crowd who has been living off of SS for decades....... They will say something like "Well I earned SS" , sure but you earned UI as well for working for the same company for so long.....

I am fortunate to work in the Civil Engineering space. My company mostly deals with high hazard infrastructure.

They say no business is “recession proof” but this is about as close as it gets.

So far no changes other than working from home. No layoffs or furloughs that I have heard about. Everyone is still slammed with work.

So what?

Who cares?

It makes the person an honest living. They spend their money to contribute to the economy.

Good for them I support APs. But again I do not classify it as "work" or "employment".

My only disagreement was on the terms used. They do not have an employer, provide a service, produce a good, they just take advantage of casino offers. Which is great for them. It is just not "work" in any traditional definition.

As for honest, most are honest, some do violate the law depending on what state they are in and what methods they use (using other player cards for example...) But again, not a road worth going down. Just point out that not 100% are honest.... Again, I don't care, they find a system and use it, great, its just not work.
