No, they don't. Please search "Castle Rock v Gonzales", MSD Students v Broward County", and/or "Warren v District of Columbia". They have, quite literally, no duty whatsoever to protect you (unless you are in their custody). This ain't my interpretation, and I ain't one of those faithless arguers starting at a desired result and trying to stretch my facts to fit it. I just supplied my sources, go see for yourself.

I agree with you that's the way it should be and what I believed, too. Once. I'm not here to clash swords; IDGAF what you believe and I'm mostly done with my talking portion about mine. But I would prefer you head out with a little less naivete, namely, that when you set out alone you are very much alone, and should conduct yourself accordingly.

As I've said lo these last ten years now.

Keep looking. As we're ramping race back up again, I suggest a perusal of the Mulford Act. Another example of how something you think you'd like is actually used for reasons I know you'd hate.

Interesting. The police SUV pulls across to block the camera (I am sure non intentional since this is a random security camera) before you can see what actually leads up to him being on the ground.

But, most of that interaction seems pretty reasonable (other than he takes some time to get out of his car, probably arguing)…

It will be better when the body cams with sound get released. It will tell the full story. Right now we are just piecing together random security camera footage and cell phone videos.

However, I thought of an alternative explanation which makes her story possible.

Did people consider that he wanted her to leash her dog so it could be restrained so that he could attack her? It certainly isn't unknown that attackers want to neutralize dogs. It would fit with her complaint, but it apparently didn't happen that way since she didn't tell the story that way.

The dog is an old cocker spaniel she rescued during the lock own. That dog couldn't bite bread. She got into a lot of trouble with the animal activists after nearly hanging the poor animal.

She returned it to the shelter and lost her very high paying job.

The man is Christian Cooper —"a Harvard University grad, former Marvel Comics editor and a current member of the board of directors for the New York City chapter of the Audubon Society, according to reports and the nature organization"

Yeah, in this particular case, the dog probably wasn't a factor in such a theory.

A few months back, out front of our large picture window, a guy was walking his dog. They stopped dead center of our view and the dog went through the motions and squeezed off the usual [thank god my owner got me out of the house turd], and just kept on walking leaving a big pile [the dog was facing east and west btw], and I went out the front door and yelled at the guy, said hey, you going to leave that right there?

The guy responded, said he was walking to the store and would get it on the way back. We said ok, he did. It didn't look that way in the beginning. I have a cedar split rail out front, for decoration only. It is a frequent visitor for dogs, and many lift a leg. I couldn't care less, I do pick up automotive discharges though, bottles, plastics etc. It seems once one pup has claimed a little piece of the world by marking it, every other dog wants to drop his graffiti over it?

Dogs, mo better than people most the time.

There will always be bad cops because good cops protect the few bad cops
Personal experience
Grew up with a weird kid that became a cop
He murdered a guy after he became a cop
Howard County police in MD refused to investigate Officer Victor Reimer, the weirdo I grew up with.
All my friends I still keep in touch with that knew Victor have no doubts he is a murderer
I have no doubts
sad

The animals have taken over, as could have been predicted. Nothing like burning down an Auto Zone, looting a small grocery store, etc... to show your love for justice.

Oh, please. That's like me saying that every single police officer in the country would have crushed another person under his knee for ten minutes.

Also, nothing like having a cop kill someone and not arresting him to show a love of justice. Especially when the people who would be doing the arresting are cops, you know, those people sworn to justice.

I imagine some of them must be getting a little hot under the collar, in fact, I'm a few states away and I can kinda smell the bacon grease from here.

Seriously, why wasn't he arrested?

Imagine that I'm crushing some guy under my knee, on video, for damn near a full ten minutes. Hell, let's even say that he attacked me first, but for some reason, I'm able to restrain his hands and I'm able to sit there and crush him while surrounded with a bunch of friends who will either directly help me, stop others from intervening or ignore what I'm doing.

Throughout all of this, the guy is begging for me to spare his life.

Now, answer me this: Would I not be in a jail cell while the whole thing is at least investigated?
