It seems reasonable that most of that would have gone to Trump, had Johnson not been a choice. Question 1 -- How strong is the Libertarian candidate in 2020, Jo Jorgensen? I've never even heard of him/her. Question 2 -- Are the prediction models for 2020 adequately considering that this year, without a strong libertarian, those votes will probably probably help Trump? 3.27% is a LOT! Clinton won the popular vote by 2.1% only in 2016. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Jo is a woman. I just read that in Nevada you can not write in a presidential candidate. Has this always been the case? At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |

I didn't know that. I wouldn't waste my vote in a battleground state like Nevada. When I lived in Maryland, I always did. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

It may be that Gary Johnson simply got "protest votes" and people didn't want to vote for either Trump or Clinton. Many people feel that 3rd party candidates are spoilers. But even if you are correct, at least Gary Johnson didn't change the outcome. 48.18% Hillary Clinton 46.09% Donald Trump 3.28% Gary Johnson 1.07% Jill Stein 0.54% Evan McMullin 0.84% Others In the year 2000 you can say with almost certainty that Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the election. In Florida, Nader, Green Party, received 3X the combined votes of (Pat Buchanan, Reform and Harry Browne, Libertarian). The Florida results for the year 2000 47.87% GW Bush - 2,912,790 48.38% Al Gore - 2,912,253 (537 less than Bush) 2.74% Ralph Nader - 97,488 |

Nader is a putz. The book he wrote on Corvair's was mostly crap, there was nothing seriously wrong and it ruined the car. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Was he the one who said the Corvair was unsafe at any speed? Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Pat Buchanan got more than 2,000 votes from Democrats in Palm Beach County. The vast majority almost certainly were because of the butterfly ballot. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

That is what the book was titled. A big issue IIRC was that the rear wheels were attached to the axle, so they as moved up and down there was less rubber touching the surface. The improvement was to make them more independent so that all the rubber was always touching all the time. Hard to explain without a picture even if you do know cars and mechanics. Don't forget voters in the panhandle might have gone home as the state was called before the polls closed due to geographically challenged people at the networks. The guys who did not know how a person in Florida can be talking to someone in Seattle at the exact time on their clocks despite the time zone difference. The President is a fink. |

I have always voted the same regardless if I lived in MD, not a battleground and FL, the biggest battleground out there. I vote for who I want to be President Period I've voted for 3rd party candidates when I lived in FL The vote seemed logical to me I wanted that 3rd party candidate to be President Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |
