In a crazy way, I am near halfway to what I would do now. My dream retirement would be get up early as I do anyhow. Morning walk, stop at a small coffeehouse and check that day's sports bets. Also check out my stocks and any I am interested in. That takes in most of the morning. Afternoon go place sports bets then play poker or BJ or whatever for a few hours. Wait for sports results. Mix in some hobbies. Be able to hit some nice places to eat. And if I stay in the USA do some traveling in a convertible. IOW, pass the time. I do think there will be a need to hole up with the way the USA is going. Besides the violence we are seeing, inflation will soon come in a huge way. That guy I knew said he loved the Philippines. China is nogo for many reasons. Like the typical white boy I do look at Southeast Asia and like lots of it, but SE Asia has problems that could warrant its own thread. S Korea in particular if the country was a person it would be taking Prozac hourly.
Cuba?! Others on this board might like it there, last place I would want to be. As to Europe a few problems. One is cost. Other is muslim migration, which will cause worse than the same problems I am concerned about here. Another is if I did a move I want warm weather. Most of Europe is not as cold as the USA, but still gets cold. The President is a fink. |

Every travel video from there has them sweating to death. I know this is a theme with me, but hot and humid dictates your life in these places. Being a tourist for a few days is one thing, living there is a prison sentence. Two days of it and you's be going, what was I thinking. Hawaii has the best climate of anyplace I've ever been. It's paradise, literally. My dad spent every winter in FL after he retired. The summer drove him north, it was killer. Like most of Asia and S America. Even Hemingway spent summer in MT, not Key West. And ran an air conditioner in his bedroom in Cuba. The rest of the time he was almost naked, sweating to death. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I think the weather in San Diego is ideal for me. I don't want to live there but if I could find a place with the same weather I would be happy. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |

60's and 70's year round. Hugely expensive cost of living. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Looks like Chile might be close. Interesting video, Chile is 50% white? Who would have known that. The President is a fink. |

How does the cost of living affect the weather? I said I don't want to live there I just want that weather. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |

You mean how does the weather affect the cost of living. You're kidding, right? Ever been to Hawaii? Costs a fortune to live there. Guess why. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

This place is not cheap. And the islands are fairly small, that might drive me nuts. OTOH, if you were a digital nomad it might be the place assuming the internet was fast enough. Who wants to go there and we can open a small casino? The President is a fink. |
