I think the only beach I enjoyed

I've never understood how you
'enjoy' a beach. The sun is hot, the sand
is hot, sand gets between your toes and in
food, sand flies bite your ankles. The
view in a flat expanse of boring water
where screaming kids are playing. How
do you enjoy any of that.

The beach I liked was the nude beach
in Santa Barbara where I went with my
GF so she could get an all over tan. The
scenery at that beach was great and
frightening at the same time. It wasn't
just the grannies that had tits down to
their knees, there was a guy there who
had a babies arm between his legs
and he would constantly walk the beach
and when he got serious wood he would
go into the cold water. And he always this
huge maniacal grin on his face. My GF
was scared to death of him.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

It's not a beach but have you ever been to Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo.

No, I have never heard of it but after reading about it I don't think I would be interested. I want to lay on a white sand beach and stare at pretty blue water while people deliver me frozen cocktails. I try to go to Orient Beach in St Martin every year but this year we couldn't because of the airlines not flying there during the pandemic. Last week we went to Key West but it was during a tropical storm so we didn't get much beach or pool time.

I am almost always cold, I like being hot. For me reading a book on the beach while my wife plays her IPod quietly and listening to waves crash is hypnotic. I probably average one book a day while laying on the beach. To me that is relaxing and what I want in a vacation.

We have been to Saint Martin about 10 times now usually for a week at a time and have never turned on a television.

After a few drinks, doesn't one of those fancy Vegas hotels seem about the same out by their pool?

Not even close. Generally pools are crowded and noisy, I like tranquility.

I love the beach. Campfires, surf fishing, clam digging, muscle picking. tidepool exploring. I like the smell of low tide and really like going there during storms and watching giant breakers crashing on the beach. Watching whales, shore birds, boats. Great walking in the sand, you have a choice between soft or hard packed. Searching for beach glass. The views, being able to look at infinite distance without infrastructure in it. And cursing seagulls.

But that's not really 'the beach' experience
most people have. This is:

I don't like being either. I like 68
outside, it's a perfect temp. My
thermostat is set at 63 in the
winter. I can wear a sweater
and am comfortable. My bedroom
temp is 60. Ideal sleeping temp
for humans is 55. I hate visiting
a friends house in the winter
and it's 75 in there. I last about
10 min and I'm gone.

When I drove a cab sometimes
we had to go to the door in
the African American neighborhoods.
Invariably when the door opened
in the winter a blast of heat would
hit me in the face. They had the
thermo cranked up and had a
huge round kerosene heater
in the middle of the living room.
Saw this again and again. It was
nuts.

When I was in pest control this was a huge thing in black homes. It was double huge because they had their homes to an ideal breeding temperature for many pests, so it made the job harder. But the big thing when you did a service was it was so hot many guys myself included would nearly get sick. If you have ever been in a pet store that kept the temp up for the tropical fish and animals that is how it felt. I cannot imagine their gas bill.

I do not get the hang at the beach all day thing. I like a vacation to the shore, but I will stay in the condo and relax that way. Half an hour to swim early before people get there and evening when they are gone. That's it. Lying in the sun? Fugheddabaddit!
