I think the people and communities in the area should have the freedom to determine what statues go up and down.
It's freedom.
I'm fine with honering entertainers. They all have some bad skeletons in the closet. They are human. Its their out of the world talent that brought joy to millions of people that is being celebrated.
I'm not a fan of the Daughter's of the Confederacy who put up a lot of statues after the war.
There aim was political to change the history of the Civil War from slavery to states rights which is a false narative.
On the flip side there is no doubt James Brown demanded the tightest playing in the band behind him. That band was unbelievably tight. They had to nail every song to James Brown's exacting precision standards.

I've traveled all over the country and have seen hundreds of statues. 99% are White men. Presidents, Governors, Senators, Generals, city leaders, philanthropic citizens, brave citizens ect
It's really quite rare to see a statue of a Black man or Woman in this country

I see statues of white people on my RV travels at just about every town. White people statues are actually everywhere.

Oglethorpe is actually a pretty awesome person to be fair unlike many statues in the South.

I actually found a Monument in the south dedicated to slaves not running away during the Civil War.

The punishment for run away slaves is absolutely horrendous. Of course they stayed. It's either that or get caught as a runaway and get tortured. It's an absurd statue. Posting shortly. I take a gazillion pics on my travels.

They're slaves. They had no choice.
