Americans believe abortion and gay marriage are constitutional rights. To take those rights away is a court off the rails

And NOBODY is taking them away.
Every single election you Dems
fall for the same lie that those
pesky Repubs are going to cancel
ALL your rights and you never
notice that it never happens.
Pathetic.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

It started with FDR and continues to this day.

Thanks to the three Trump appointments the average age of SCOTUS at next inauguration is 64.2 which is 7.7 years younger than the average age when FDR reached his 2nd inaugurated.

------------------- ------------------ Mar 4, 1937
80.3 Brandeis 13. Nov. 1856
77.9 Van Devanter 17. Apr. 1859
75.1 McReynolds 3. Feb. 1862
74.9 Sutherland 25. Mar. 1862
74.9 Hughes 11. Apr. 1862
71.0 Butler 17. Mar. 1866
66.8 Cardozo 24. May. 1870
64.4 Stone 11. Oct. 1872
61.8 O. Roberts 2. May. 1875
71.9

------------------ ------------------ Jan 20, 2021
82.4 Stephen Breyer 15. Aug. 1938 -- Bill Clinton
72.6 Clarence Thomas 23. Jun. 1948 - George H. Bush
70.8 Samuel Alito 1. Apr. 1950 - George W. Bush
66.6 Sonia Sotomayor 25. Jun. 1954
66.0 John Roberts 27. Jan. 1955
60.7 Elena Kagan 28. Apr. 1960
55.9 Brett Kavanaugh 12. Feb. 1965
53.4 Neil Gorsuch 29. Aug. 1967
49.0 Amy Coney Barrett 28. Jan. 1972
64.2

FDR proposed to reorganize the federal judiciary by adding a new justice each time a justice reached age 70 and failed to retire. That was 6 judges when he began his second term.

If Biden proposed to reorganize the federal judiciary along similar terms he could add only three at first.

Understood. Meaning if the SC makes rulings YOU disagree with they MUST be wrong. The Liberal Democrat philosophy summed up.

By the way.... when you say religious nut.... how do you define such? Is anyone who believes in God a religious nut?

He has me blocked. Ask him why he hates "religious nuts" but is OK with "abortion nuts."

I’ll answer:

Because “religious nuts” are crazy and there’s no such thing as an “abortion nut” (only anti-abortion nuts.)

No
The clear majority of Americans, not Dems, Americans believe abortion and gay marriage are constitutional rights. To take those rights away is a court off the rails

We might as well do away with courts if that is the case. Just hold a referendum on ever court challenge. Basically laws don't matter under your scenerio just public opinion which is always fickle and changing with the wind.

If Republicans had let Obama choose a 3rd judge to replace Scalia, then it would have been 30 months with 2 Clinton appointees and 3 Obama appointees. But Trump's two appointees would shift it back to a conservative majority.

Feb 13, 2016 Antonin Scalia (Died)
Jul 31, 2018 Anthony Kennedy (Retired)
Sep 18, 2020 Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Died)

But Republicans insisted on waiting 14 months after Scalia died (until April 7, 2017).

Many people call me an abortion nut. I believe abortions should be required for all cases unless the parents can prove they can both afford the child and pass parenting aptitude tests.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

That level is not even needed. Demanding abortion be legal up until birth or that the government fund it would qualify one as an "abortion nut." Most members of NOW are abortion nuts.

That was basically my point. I think there are ways to get a constitutional amendment which will override the SC. It is not inconceivable that pro abortion people have the numbers to do so.... probably will have enough votes in 10 years....

There may be changes in Roe V Wade, but it will not be overturned.

Even if it was overturned, abortion will reman legal in nineteen states.
