Yes I am responding to my own post

It appears that the letter may be fake.

Hey, if so, it was fun while it lasted.

Again: you righties are way too overexcited by the Brandon thing.

Normal people still have no idea what it means.

Meanwhile "Let's Go Brandon" hip hop song tops iTune Charts.
But, yeah, nobody knows about it.
LMAO

Where did I say “no one” knows about it?

All the bitter sore losers certainly know all about it.

You can always tell a Trumpie, but you can't tell him much.

“Everyone on iTunes”

???

Everyone on iTunes didn’t buy that song. Only the ones who did are the sore losers. Try to keep up.

I'm also starting to really dislike Manchin for contributing to the decline with all this delay. I expect it from McConnell. But with friends like Manchin you may not need enemies.

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virgina has reportedly been aggressively resisting pieces of Joe Biden’s agenda.
Almost three-fourths of the coal produced from West Virginia's more than 160 mines was shipped out of state in 2019, mainly to almost 20 other states, but also to foreign markets. The remaining mined coal was used primarily by West Virginia's electric power sector.

Wyoming and West Virginia produce over half the nation's coal.
Wyoming—218.6 million short tons —40.8% of nation's coal
West Virginia—67.2—12.6%
Pennsylvania—36.3—6.8%
Illinois—31.6—5.9%
North Dakota—26.4—4.9%

West Virginia is the only state to cancel its Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).
===================================================================================

As noted earlier, the US utilities are expected to burn 23% more coal this winter to make up for the natural gas shortage.

The use of coal to generate electricity in the US has dropped by -61.65% from it's peak in 2007 to the year 2020. There have been very few years where consumption of coal went up. An increase of 23% has not happened since the early 1990s.
2020 -19.85%
2019 -16.05%
2018 -4.67%
2017 -2.69%
2016 -8.37%
2015 -14.50%
2014 +0.04%
2013 +4.43%
2012 -12.66%
2011 -6.16%
2010 +5.20%
2009 -11.58%
2008 -1.52%

The White House proposed as part of its spending bill the Clean Energy and Sustainability Accelerator Act to replace coal- and gas-fired power plants in the US with wind, solar and nuclear energy. The $150bn program would incentivize utilities to increase the amount of clean energy that they use and would issue penalties to those that do not switch to renewable energy.

Biden is going on his 2nd international trip in just over a week, to attend the G20 conference in Rome, have a papal audience, and then on to Glasgow for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference. He was hoping to present news of a signed bill at the conference, but it looks like that won't happen.

It is not clear if this will have any impact on the incentives to replace ICE vehicles with EVs. Most advocates point out that even coal generated electricity powering EVs is less damaging to the environment than the internal combustion engine but with coal the margin is much narrower.

Toyota's new Dynamic Force Engine has made a breakthrough in thermal efficiency in being 40% efficient as a conventional engine and 41% efficient in hybrid form. Most internal combustion engines are only 20% percent thermally efficient. Typical thermal efficiency for utility-scale electrical generators is around 37% for coal and oil-fired plants, but some engineers claim that the actual thermal efficiency is 45.5%. The irreversibilities are caused by the combustion reaction, heat transfer between flue gas and water/steam, low temperature heat losses, the steam cycle, and other factors.

Sales of compact and subcompact cars in the United States are down to an under 10% share of the total US car market. Given the new class of highly efficient small engines and the fact that the many of these cars are sold to non home owners it may weaken the resolve to eliminate the ICE engine by 2045.

Yup, definitely not pleased with all this delay with Manchin.

Quote:
A pair of longtime House Democrats announced their retirements on Monday, the latest in a string of departures that has left some in the party anxiously bracing for more ahead of what could be a brutal midterm.

Pennsylvania Rep. Mike Doyle and North Carolina Rep. David Price, who both spent decades in the House, said Monday they would not seek reelection, becoming the sixth and seventh Democrats to announce their retirements ahead of next November.

And like I said, someone could always die before then. The margin is thin and more fragile than some seem to realize.
