Tesla achieves these numbers even though their product is pretty damned shoddy, having one of the worst quality and reliability ratings of all brands sold here.

"Eco-warriors" buy Teslas in order to show the world they care about climate change, not because they think it's a great car.

Novel, yes; great, no.

you posted an image of the Tessla Semi, are these produced yet? I found a page but not that kind of info

At the 2021 Shareholder meeting, Musk announced that the production of the Semi would not start in 2021 and that it likely would slip into 2023. The plan is to have a 500 kWh battery pack and the company wants a high-volume production of its tabless 4680 batteries (previewed in September 2020) to meet the demand for the Semi.

Tell that to the stock market which raise the price from ~$100 on January 1 2020 to ~$1000 on January 1 2022.

There is competition

EXPENSIVE
The BMW iX takes a place alongside the X5 in size and role for BMW.
The BMW i4 is effectively an electric 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Kia EV6 GT with 576 hp, a sub-3.5-second 0-60 mph dash, and a circa-300-mile range will arrive early in 2022.

Mercedes-Benz has three new EVs that will arrive in 2022.

Rivian R1T truck and R1S SUV twins both have up to 800 hp from a four-motor powertrain in the right configuration, towing capacities in excess of 10,000 lbs, and a 314-mile range. The R1T starts at $67,500.

Nissan ARIYA, the new All-Electric SUV.

Volkswagen Electric Bus

LESS EXPENSIVE
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a fully-fledged compact crossover akin to the Tucson. Available in rear- or all-wheel drive, four trims are available with prices starting at $39,700 before incentives and federal tax rebates. This is the first model of the Ioniq sub-brand and showcases a new era of propulsion and technology for Hyundai. Hyundai has shuttered it's gasoline engine department.

Toyota and Subaru have co-designed EVs that should be more affordable

Ford MACH-e

Chevrolet Bolt

Mazda MX-30 EV Crossover will be short range (~100miles)

Sure, there's competition, and sure, Tesla's stock is up, but that does nothing to change the fact that their cars are shoddy.

Competition makes you improve your product. Toyota makes ~10 million vehicles per year worldwide, and should beat General Motors to sell more vehicles in the United States (for less money than GM).

If their new electric vehicle sells a million worldwide for less money than Tesla, then Tesla will have to improve their product and/or drop their price.

2022 Tesla Model Y Starting MSRP From $58,990

Nissan Ariya Starting MSRP $45,950

Toyota bz4x MSRP not established yet

Production in cars per week
8,550 Tesla's plant in Fremont, CA
8,427 Toyota Motor Corp.’s juggernaut in Georgetown, KY
8,343 BMW AG’s Spartanburg hub in SC
5,564 Ford Motor Co.’s iconic truck plant in Dearborn, MI

The Austin Gigafactory will initially produce the Model Y with anticipated 500,000 units annually (over 9000 per week).
The plan is to eventually build out to include the highly anticipated Cybertruck pickup and Semi long-haul truck.

Top 10 list of EV sales first quarter 2022 Tesla products made up 70% of the Battery EVs sold in the first quarter of 2021 and 75% in the same period of 2022.
------- Tesla Model Y
46,000+ Tesla Model 3
6,734 Mustang Mach-E
------- Tesla Model X
6,244 Hyundai Ioniq 5
5,281 Kia EV6
------- Tesla Model S
4,371 Nissan LEAF
------- Kia Niro (can be a battery EV, a plug in EV, or a hybrid)
3,302 Audi e-Tron

Tesla does not distinguish between US sales and global sales so results have to be estimated. Kia does not itemize what type ofNiro is sold They stated that 9,226 Niros were sold of all three types. Independent estimates of how many BEVs were sold placed the Niro in position #9.

Not enough sales to make the top 10 list:
2,755 Volkswagen ID 4
---------------------------------------------------------------------
We make the observation that with the exception of Tesla EV's we are still talking about a very limited number of EV sales by other automakers.Sales are on the same order as a specialized gasoline vehicle.

8,811 CORVETTE
6,710 CAMARO

What makes you think that Lucid will give Tesla a run? I am thinking Ford will be their biggest competitor in the US.

see: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/26/lucid-to-deliver-up-to-100000-evs-to-saudi-arabia-government.html

Oh, Lucid has plans for other countries, in fact they're being bankrolled by Saudi Arabia and will build another plant there, to bookend its Arizona facility.

Have you checked their performance, i.e. speed and battery life?

Very impressive.

Hopefully Tesla, Ford et al can make necessary adjustments but it looks like Lucid will provide stiff competition.
