Why such apparent antipathy for the Pac NW?

Because the two times I've been there it was depressing as hell. I was in Portland years ago to visit my sister and the whole time I was there it was dank and humid and overcast and drizzling or raining. And the second time I went there seeing all the homeless people was totally depressing. Why people live there on purpose is a mystery to me. My sister moved to Seattle which ain't much better.

It rarely snows here, the temperatures are moderate and rarely below freezing or above 90-95.

Yes, it rains more frequently than back east but the yearly amount is about the same: more cloudy days here.

When it isn't raining the relative humidity is nice: not "stciky" like in NJ or NC in the summer.

But last year and this year it's been drier and a bit warmer than usual, seems to me, with wildfires galore.

No wildfires in stumptown yet though, just antifa trying to burn down the justice center.

I've been pretty much everywhere and had the opportunity to decide where I wanted to settle down; the main choices were Boulder, , Albuquerque and Portland.

One nice thing about Portland (other than a moderate climate) is its proximity to the ocean and also to mountains, some quite spectacular: people in stumptown love to play in the great outdoors with hiking, mountain biking, skiing, surfing all fairly close by.

For icing on the cake I really like the tribal casinos in Oregon.

By mid summer hopefully I have learned, to not just be cursing the heat in Havasu. Quite a few desert dwellers actually claim to love this weather. It's like a culture of them hang out at the lake and do lake things. It's cray cray to me, but it exists.

That's something you won't get in Fla., is days over 110. You sure that's where you want to go?

Living in Las Vegas for 30 years I have learned to just stay in air conditioned areas 99% of the time it is hot. About the only real time I spend outside is golfing and I do that starting between 5:30am and 6am most times. Yes, it gets warm by the end of the round but it is still tolerable at 10am.

Right now it is 108 degrees outside and I am sitting in my boxer shorts on the couch with the temperature at 78. The only time I plan to leave my house today is to go out front and retrieve my garbage can and bring it around back. My total time outside of the house will be less than one minute today.

I was somewhat like this in AZ. I would sometimes take walks late morning, once after I realized why they made the troops in Iraq drink so much water. The problem is living like this can get really unhealthy. Check out the YT videos on USA fast food in Kuwait and the general Arab world. Some of those people are sick looking.

In addition to there not being many states without a pick-up as the top selling model, California is the only state without a pick-up truck in the top 5 models. It is the only state with a Tesla as one of the five top selling models.

Toyota Rav-4 - 7 (WA, OR, MA, RI, MD plus DC, Puerto Rico)
Honda CR-V - 3 (CT, NY, NJ)
Toyota Corolla - 1 (FL)
Honda Civic - 1 (CA)

California top 5
1.Honda Civic
2.Toyota RAV4
3.Toyota Camry
4.Honda Accord
5.Tesla Model 3

I made a mistake. There are two states with no pickups in the top 5. California and New Jersey
New Jersey top 5
1.Honda CR-V
2.Honda Civic
3.Toyota RAV4
4.Jeep Cherokee
5.Honda Accord

In November BMW will begin selling their reasonable competitor to the Tesla Model 3. At some point they will sell their BMW iX as competition to the Tesla model 3 long range and performance variants.

Tesla Y MSRP
Long Range $51,990 (326 mile) 75.0 kilowatt-hours 384 horsepower
Performance $60,990 (303 mile) 75.0 kilowatt-hours 456 horsepower

Tesla Y3 MSRP
Long Range $51,990 (326 mile) 75.0 kilowatt-hours 384 horsepower
Performance $58,190 (303 mile) 75.0 kilowatt-hours 480 horsepower

BMW i4 Price (incl. dest.)
eDrive40 $56,395 81.5 kilowatt-hours, 300 miles RWD, 240 miles AWD. 335 horsepower
M50 $66,895 81.5 kilowatt-hours, 245 miles 536 horsepower

For icing on the cake .

The icing on the cake is Oregon making all drugs legal so instead of half the population being crackheads and meth heads and heroin junkies, it'll be three-quarters of the population. I understand that rehab centers are the new cottage industry in Oregon. Perfect..

You are showing your age EB. The drug of choice now is fentanyl stronger and cheaper. A side benefit you will like is that it has been killing more people than Covid so it is somewhat self regulating.

You might be showing your age too. Carfentinol is 100 times stronger than fentynl and is getting popular. It is also used for elephant tranquilizer.

It is no wonder half the state wants to go with Idaho. Oregon is becoming a nice little case study of what liberalism does when it gets what it wants. Exploding violence in Portland and next will be so many people strung out. Lets sit back and watch.

You both might be showing your age :)

From what I have read, it is not super common for addicts to specifically seek out these opioid analogs. Apparently the high sucks compared to natural opioids.

People are dying so often from fent overdoses because it is cut with heroin or other drugs to reduce cost.
