Did you ride the BART electric train around downtown? I worked on every piece of that except the cars themselves. Stood the poles, pulled and sagged the wire etc. There are sturgeon running underneath the bridges crossing the Willamette. Loads of history in old Portland. I was born there.

I don't do Bart
I have a truck
I always have my bike on my truck
I've done 21st and 23st
I've done the Chinese Gardens and the surrounding neighborhood
A lot of homeless
But
Also a great restaurant scene coexisting
Still a nice buzz in town despite the homeless

Portland yesterday somebody tried to steal my bike. I take my bike everywhere on the back of my truck. Sometimes I ride it, sometimes I leave it in the truck. Its kind of deceptive doesn't look locked up, just bungie cords. Well it is locked. Somebody undid the bungie cords probably thinking bike not locked to the truck but it is.

I worked along the trail you are enjoying, from Yellowstone to San Diego to Anchorage, towed 5 different trailers along the way. I never had anything stolen until I got to Arizona, where I've had 3 different E-Z lift shaft for the trailer balls taken off of my truck. One was out of the Casino where Z Core works in Prescott, from the parking lot.

Your artwork montage of Portland is great. I’m glad to hear my second hand reports about Portland may be overstated. You know I live in a suburb of Buffalo. The town of Amherst has off and on been ‘the safest city in America’. Drive 5-10 miles to certain areas of Buffalo and you are at extreme peril. If I hear how unsafe ‘Buffalo’ is, I know it is not really relevant to me.

They're not. You can make the ugliest city in the world look good by cherry-picking the pictures you take. Where's all the pictures of the homeless camps and the homeless by the freeway entrances in the homeless under the freeway overpasses and the homeless people sleeping in front of doorways downtown. His pictures are meaningless.

I would say just the opposite. His pictures show that not the whole city is bad.

My point was you can take the worst city in the world and take just the right pictures of it and make it look like a great place. His pictures are meaningless as to what's really going on in Portland. The place is a cesspool of homeless who crap in the streets shoot up in the streets and whip it out and pee wherever they happen to be standing. Who cares if there's a guy who sells donuts on the next street over.

Once again you are wrong. Only a small part of the city is a mess. Portland is 145 square miles, show me over 20% that is a mess. I bet you can't.
