The Average Transaction Price of a new vehicle is soaring since the industry historically broke $40,000 in January 2021. Only 4 months later it is at $41,263 and subcompact cars broke $20,000 for the first time.

Tesla was higher than BMW last year, but record sales of Model 3 sedans and Model Y SUVs have dropped them below BMW. I suspect as the ATP is only $400 higher than Volvo and with Volvo debuting new luxury EVs, we can expect Tesla to drop below Volvo soon. It is anyone's guess if and when they will drop below General Motors.

Mitsubishi only sells 3 vehicles in America and has only 335 dealer partners
2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport/MSRP From $20,995
2021 Mitsubishi Mirage/MSRP From $14,295
2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross From $24,590

The local Mitsubishi dealer aggressively advertises that anyone earning $350/week can purchase a brand new car with $0 down.

Seems plausible if they have a $14k model.

They all seem like garbage.

If there are 335 dealerships, then on average they are selling 8 Mirages per month per dealership for the first six months of 2021.

The Mirage only has a 78 hp engine, and takes roughly 12.6 seconds to hit 60 mph from standing start. The top speed is 112 mph, but it has to be buzzing like a hive of bees to drive that fast.

There are some decent e-bikes that let you carry packages.

You can get speeds of up to 28 mph in Class 3 mode or 40 mph when unlocked. That unlocked mode might not be legal on public streets though, depending on your local moped laws. If not, consider that a private road or track option only. DONT BREAK THE LAW.
If you want to pay less than $1000 you will probably never see more than 20 mph, and normal cruise mode will be less. But they fold up easily so it isn't stolen.

I would seriously consider e-bikes than a vehicle with less than 80 hp.

It seems borderline dangerous to have a car so absurdly underpowered.

The local RT 30 bypass on-ramps are notoriously short. Most of the time, if there is any traffic at all, you need to come to a complete stop before entering the highway. 12.6 seconds to come up to highway speed in that situation would be scary.

My parents have one. I think it’s gotta be close to 15 years old now. Still works fine. Although being a nice little convertible it’s not like they drive it everywhere.

I’ve never owned more than mid-range priced cars and some econo models. But I have yet to get one I’d label a “ lemon”.

Few cars even sticker below $20. The Mirage is for those who just need a reliable car.

That’s the other thing with these MSRPs

For economy cars, the base model MSRP will often not include things like automatic transmission, air conditioning, power locks, etc.

They never actually carry any inventory without those basic features, but they can still advertise the barebones MSRP.
