Except nothing was cut from the spending.

Tax cuts are good, rates are too high. Government spends around 40% of GDP, that can easily be cut back.

If it wasn't put in when it was needed it didn't need to be cut.

...and they can still promise lower taxes than the other guy who propose the infrastructure fixes.

Many analysts say that investing in both new infrastructure and current maintenance would stimulate the economy. By increasing efficiency and reliability and lowering transportation costs, it would boost long-term U.S. competitiveness, insulate the economy from shocks, and create jobs. Economists generally see infrastructure spending as having a significant “multiplier effect,” meaning that the economic gains are greater than the amount spent. A 2014 University of Maryland study [PDF] found that infrastructure investments added as much as $3 to gross domestic product (GDP) growth for every $1 spent, with a bigger effect during a recession.

The U.S. population has more than doubled since the 1960s, when most of the country’s major infrastructure systems were designed. Many are reaching the end of their lifespan, and are dangerously overstretched, experts say.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has compiled regular “report cards” on the state of U.S. infrastructure since the 1980s. In its 2021 report [PDF], the ASCE found that the nation’s infrastructure averaged a “C-,” up from a “D+” in 2017 and the highest grade in twenty years. Still, the group estimated that there is an “infrastructure investment gap” of nearly $2.6 trillion this decade that, if unaddressed, could cost the United States $10 trillion in lost GDP by 2039.

You still do not get it. Pols will always find "needed" infrastructure. And sheep will agree and vote for them. It is the basis of Democrat Party politics.
The President is a fink.

I don't remember you objecting to the myriad of names that Trump has called here for 5 years. Sergeant Poopypants is getting what he deserves.

Would you like me to find a dozen posts criticizing those using phrases like Orange Oaf or Fat slob? Calling someone a moron or stupid or lazy to me is ok, it defines your perception of them. The childish names are just childish.

I cannot believe anyone intelligent cannot see that it is. Really, do you think pols are calling for it other than to get votes? It is pure pork. Infrastructure is supposed to be part of the regular budget.

Thank you. Are we to believe there were no monies allocated for infrastructure until this boondoggle bill was passed? It’s the Dems way of just exploding the budget rather than just adding some of the infrastructure stuff in the regular budget, which would expose them as just having a budget too large for the taxes we collect. And if anyone thinks the Republicans really wanted to pass this pork laden bill, then you just can’t see the obvious.

It's typical to see the rightwing save a dime now to spend twice later to fix what finally broke.

Even though defunding the police was stupid, the leftwing didn't do it to save their pocket money. The rightwing comes up with those ideas for short term gain.

The right consistently is brain dead on long term planning, except personal finances. Especially conservatives.

In hindsight, it was incredibly stupid for Biden to hand out thousands of dollars of cash to people after covid started; most didn't need it.

Also an eviction moratorium makes no sense either.
