Supposedly the American deal with Afghanistan kept the Taliban forces from attacking American troops but not Afghan troops and police forces. The worst losses for Afghans of the whole conflict were in 2019. And it was when they had the worst casualties for civilians in 10 years. In 2018, 200,000+ Afghans fled their homes.

Btw, that's a clever strategy, if true -- for fooling the public here. More sleight of hand, than anything else.

It's the right move, pulling out of that country and letting them spin like a top.

They're ungovernable so just cut our losses and get the hell out.

Good move, Joe.

I generally agree. What I hate is the blatant and obvious to all but a kindergartner lie Biden told.

What he said (paraphrase). ‘We trained and supplied the Afghan Army to be self sufficient to fend off the Taliban’

What he would have said if he was honest ‘We are allowing the Taliban to easily and seamlessly take over the country.

Give me a break
Its political semantics
Much ado about nothing.
What Biden said is no different then any other President says. Did you ever expect Nixon or Ford to honestly say, we are getting our asses kicked, regarding Nam
You expect Biden to be totally honest but give a pass to all other Presidents.

We did indeed spend a lot of time and money trying to teach the Afghans to govern and defend themselves.

The problem is their religion: it gets in the way of politics.

In fact it controls not only politics but also the country's social and cultural life.

The Taliban effectively channel their Islamic religious zeal.

All the more reason to get out
Let China deal with this
They are the major power in the region
They sat on the sidelines knowing Afganistan can't be controlled as they see the US and Russia defeated
China is against extremist religions due to their own problems
But
China is also practical
They can actually negotiate since they have never attacked
And they have a policy of not interfering in countries.
China will dangle economic incentives to lower tensions in the area.
Hopefully it works.

"They have a policy of not interfering in countries" Are you naive, a Chinese plant or just trolling TP. That is probably the silliest statement you have ever made.
