Let me make clear that the suspension was for personal insult. Doxing had nothing to do with it. I was saying I'll add to the time if T alleges doxing, which he has not done, so far.[/q
I think that doxing is a bit of a stretch for the post Mike. There isn't anything in the post that anybody who has been following this forum for very long doesn't already know or could learn by reading older posts. None of it is new information from elsewhere.

We have a bet! No more talking about the particulars, except I'll say I'm agreeable to use SOOPOO as an arbitrator if we can't resolve it ourselves. Full disclosure -- I consider myself a friend of SOOPOO in real life, but I am confident he will will not let any favoritism cloud his judgement.
FAO Wizard,
Here, maybe behind a firewall, is an article on what a 'never before' default indicator might look like.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/interactive/2021/us-debt-default-payments/?itid=hp-top-table-high

So..... Maybe a brief deferral of Social Security payments due on Friday 29 Oct.
But good news to you: The headline makers might not trigger till November which would mean i'd lose.

I still say the SwillHTF very soon.

Is 'Trojan Horse' the correct expression for what McConnell did today? Or is it a 'poison chalice'?

Quote: WaPo
The top GOP lawmaker said his party would accept what could be a two-month extension of the country's borrowing cap, which would give Democrats more time to complete a process by which they could raise the debt ceiling further without relying on Republican votes.

They have finally done the right thing.

It looks like in this game of debt, MM has offered a PayDay loan as a kindness to the Dems.

To give the impression "Look folks, we gave them more time and they still screwed it up".... As I suspect the Dems will seize out of desperation as they THINK. See. the GOP are our friends after all..

Is McConnell Rumpelstiltskin?

Maybe for once the GOP is playing the smart game. It being in the news is hurting the Dems so keep it in the news.

The best theory for what McConnell is up to:

Quote:
🚨Danger. McConnell says he will expedite reconciliation *only if* Republicans get to dictate the size of the debt limit increase, and that he will only “allow” a 2-month increase. It’s a power grab and a path to endless small increases - rolling crises that shift leverage to Rs.

I don't doubt the GOP are playing smart. I never considered the Dems anything like smart enough to compete.
A bit like how Putin or Erdogan or Xi are smarter than their competitors.

Putin is the smartest of our age when it comes to power games. I actually admire how he has built Russia and stayed in power.

They are not smarter, they can just be more ruthless because they don't have to worry about being re-elected because their elections are fixed. Just like ours are now. I don't even know China has an election but it would be a waste of time because it would be totally fixed from top to bottom.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

They do not have to be re-elected but they do have to be smart about getting and keeping power. Like John Gotti was smarter about getting to the top than Paul Castellano who got there by nepotism. But smarter was Carlo Gambino who got there and stayed there because he knew how to use his power to keep control.

Putin is 20 years on top, few can do that even in a fixed system.
