I don’t think that I can be convinced to any reasonable degree of certainty one way or the other. Whoever is presenting ‘evidence’ might be doing so to further their goal, and there is no way I’m savvy enough to figure out if it is ‘real’ evidence or made up stuff. Didn’t tobacco companies have ‘evidence’ that smoking wasn’t harmful?

It is a mystery
If the so called evidence can't convince Dr Soopoo and the majority of virus experts , it's just just logical that I'm not convinced.
Open minds still seeking more evidence because we don't know the origin.
Closed minds have determined the origin.

Thanksgiving was 5 days ago and my wife has to use two hands to count the number of people in her immediate family that are testing positive for covid. I did nothing for Thanksgiving because I'm not an idiot. My wife wanted me to go to Bob Evans with her and I said are you kidding me? She's glad now that we didn't go. A couple of those people in her family are really really sick because covid hasn't gone anywhere the media just doesn't talk about it anymore. There's a reason the Biden Administration wants to bring back mask mandates because they know what's going on but they're not saying anything. There's a reason they keep extending the National Health Emergency for covid, it's now been extended to next April. I have left the house exactly twice for the entire month of November. Went to see my brother in a nursing home on November 2nd, and I had to go to the hardware store for fuses on November 16th. That's it. I might not go anywhere for the rest of the year. I wised up in September and bought enough dry cat food and wet cat food to last me till next March. I also bought a couple cases of liquor, 1.75 L bottles. That should last me well into next year.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

This sounds like a very unhealthy lifestyle.

Either way, it most likely came out of China. What relevant event could occur even proving it. They will deny it. They’re not going to allow an open investigation.

Sir or madam, if you read back I expressed no opinion whatsoever about the origin. Only disputed your statement that you’re open minded.

The china virus deniers will not accept it unless China openly admits it. Even then they will give China a pass.

Sorry to hear of the illness in EB's wife's family. I do have to agree that Covid is far from over. Biden was off script when he said it was. I wonder if EB will tell us whether those really sick relatives were also really well vaccinated?

I also wondered which bit you were referring to as ;unhealthy lifestyle:-
Staying home and not socialising? Or going to Thanksgiving get-togethers and mingling?

Then I got to the liquor bit. Ah. that makes sense. Evenbob has told us about his drinking habit. I think it was over on WOV. He argued that his regular nightly measure of liquor was not unhealthy at all.

Here in blighty, most of us are ignoring the still present virus. Masks are very rare. But vaccine take up is very high and there's still a certain reticence to crowd into elevators or crowded venues. Just mostly common sense precautions.

I and my household got it in July and we KNOW exactly when and where we caught it, from our rather limited social life. We three all caught it from a lunch in a busy cafe, which was conspicuously busy and poorly ventilated.

Having been vaccinated to the max, we had very minor symptoms, in spite of some risky pre-existing conditions. Not being vaccinated would probably have been a death sentence for at least one of us. As it happens, I was the only one that had not had the latest booster because I was ineligible. And I was the one with the worst symptoms. Everything was as we expected it. the infection vector was as expected and the vaccine worked as expected.

To those who say it's over: It isn't
To those who are vaxed and say it's trivial: I mostly agree
To those who are still unvaxed: JFDI. Don't be a host to the next mutation.

I suspect that Xi and his party are aware of and scared by the potential for their massive population being host to a virus that mutates quickly and which could be an existential risk.
Most of the West, less aware, and wrongly less concerned.

Never leaving home and avoiding human contact.

I agree
It's not over
Not even close
To me the expensive touristy areas mostly maskless
Places like Walmart, I still see masks and the majority of maskers are black
I have to admit I don't wear a mask anymore but am thinking of putting it back on
Being a full-time RVer, my exposure is minimal

Diamond in the hospital with covid. No doubt she was not vaccinated

Full time RVer.... Low risk, common sense to not be too concerned. We still all know that the mask is for the benefit of others unless unvented N95
