If Desantis gets the nomination Trump might run as a independent and split the vote.

Can Trump be on the GOP Primary ballot, lose the Nomination and then get on the Presidential ballot as an Independent?
Or would Trump have to elect to run as an independent and completely bypass the GOP Primary Election process?
I think the qualification dates make it a one or the other proposition.
