The bolded is the only part I don't agree with.

I remember people, usually parents and teachers, doing the same to me when I was young. I had such a severe negative reaction to it t.

Not me. I hated when adults were 'real' with me. I
was too young to understand and it just confused
me. I have a son who's a major in the AF, another
is a math professor, and the youngest has a masters
in business and has a big job in a corporation. I avoided
the embarrassing questions when they were little and
they turned out great.

Thanks to this thread, I found this educational tract on the dangers of witchcraft. Bonus points if you can figure out my trail to that page!

At first I thought it was a parody, but then I realized they were deadly serious.

Is this a Christian tract? There are people that collect
these. The ones from the 40's and 50's are often
hilarious. In those days it was pre marital sex that
was the boogeyman, the devil was behind every
bush tempting you.

Wikipedia says that he is an ardent believer that any translation of the bible into English since the King James Bible in 1611 promotes heresy.

In 1982 the New King James bible was published, using the work of 130 scholars. They tried to keep the spirit of the 1611 translation but recognized that English had changed in 4 centuries.

I notice the witch in the tract was named Samantha. Although supernatural stories go back to the earliest days of TV, I believe that Bewitched (1964-1972) was the first time it was used in a sit-com . It really bothered the devout because they thought the combination of light comedy and witchcraft was particularly dangerous.

I am not sure if romantic comedies were a problem.

I have BB&C on DVD. I even have a cat named
Pywacket. He was a kitten I found in the bushes
at a gas station, he's a Tortie. He looks exactly
like this:

There is at least one place on that cat that doesn't look exactly like the one pictured... Tortoiseshell Males are a rarity.
