Cadillac takes on Rolls Royce with a $300,000 hand built EV called the Celestiq.

In 1957, Cadillac offered a limited run of 400 Eldorado Broughams that were entirely hand-assembled, not made on an assembly line. When it was new, the Eldorado cost just over $13,000 at a time when a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud could be purchased for about $16,000, Now just 7 decades later GM is challenging Rolls Royce again.

A 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost has an MSRP From $340,500.

Rolls-Royce is still working on its first EV, the Spectre with deliveries still expected for the fourth quarter of 2023.

It make the Mercedes EQS 580 4MATIC Sedan which starts at $125,900 with acceleration 0-60 mph: 4.1 seconds and battery capacity: 107.8 kWh seem like a bargain.

Ev is quiet, but I bet they won’t repeat this mistake.

In the new, second-generation Rolls-Royce Ghost, early test audiences during its five years of development reported that the car felt so quiet it was disorienting. “Bordering on nausea,” reports the car’s lead engineer, Jon Simms.

Rolls-Royce adopted a “post-opulent” stance in the second generation of its iconic sedan, the 2021 Ghost, creating a cabin even more cocooned from any potential chaos outside. Source: Rolls-Royce
It turns out that altering the previous Ghost’s frame from steel to aluminum (which carries less sound than its heavier predecessor), insulating the bulkhead of the car in a double-soundproofed, sound-deadening skin, and filling the rest of the roof, trunk, and floor with 220 pounds of sound-absorbing materials worked a little too well. So did smoothing the insides of the air conditioning ducts, double-glazing side windows with a clear composite center sheet, and lining the tires with lightweight foam.

So Rolls-Royce engineers had to do something counterintuitive: Make the ride noisier.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Further back, 1920s/30s, Packard was near Rolls in prestige with Cadillac behind. Cadillac put their mind to it and took the lead from Packard. Took a generation along with Packard missteps but they did it.

Will Cadillac compete with Rolls or will this be a "Cadillac Phaeton" or IOW as good as the Rolls but nobody pays that for a Cadillac.

This thing is sold out from what I hear, but will it last? It is very, very hard to manage in 2 different markets like this. I am thinking we eventually see a companion brand but unlike LaSalle one above Cadillac not below.
