I was just gifted a 2016 Chevy Impala with 14,000 miles on it. I haven't driven an American sedan since the 1980's with the exception of a rental car. All I can say is that it drives exactly as I would imagine an American sedan would. The car seems very heavy and doesn't want to stop nearly as well as cars that I am used to. It is a fine car and actually supports Apple Carplay which surprised me.

I realize a Toyota Camry would be more of the equivalent of Chevy Impala, but you can't sell a 6 year old Impala and have enough money to purchase a Hybrid Camry. But you should be able to sell it and buy one of the new Toyota Corolla hybrids which were recently upgraded from 121 hp (like the Prius) to 134 hp. More importantly over 50 lb-ft of torque was added.

2023 hybrid Corolla MSRP From $22,800 MPG 53 city / 52 highway

I assumed the Impala I have had a six cylinder because it has some get up and go. I guess I will have to check.

Probably is a 6 cylinder as I assume you can feel an extra 100 hp.

The V-6 Impala cost more than present day V-6 Camry V-6 but of course, you can't sell a 6 YO car for that today. I guess you will have to keep the Impala.
