I'd be concerned with articles like this one and the other about Nord Stream 2 explosion responsibility.

They're blaming China on what they want the public to believe is Covid.

Something has killed many, but I have seen no evidence yet to believe it was Covid.

Likely something else.

After months of denial, U.S. admits to running Ukraine biolabs

June 14, 2022

Washington has been urged to come clean over its biolab program in Ukraine after the Department of Defense admitted its existence.

The Pentagon said on Thursday that it has operated 46 biolabs in Ukraine handling dangerous pathogens, after previously dismissing the charges as Russian propaganda.

When the first balloon was drifting, executive focus became the balloon, security, nukes, etc.

Like a magician, trying to focus a person's mind, so the trick can occur.

No focus, no trick.

In chess, if one moves a bishop, either defensively or offensively, the opposite is affected (more vulnerable?).

There weren't 99 balloons, yet.

The balloons didn't have color but red symbolizes blood.

Plus, it wasn't summer in the USA.

[Verse 1]
Ninety-nine red balloons
Floating in the summer sky
Panic bells, it's red alert!
There's something here from somewhere else!
The war machine springs to life
Opens up one eager eye
Focusing it on the sky
When ninety-nine red balloons go by

Also cited by the band was a newspaper article from the Las Vegas Review-Journal about five local high school students in 1973 who played a prank to simulate a UFO by launching 99 (one was lost from the original 100) aluminized Mylar balloons attached with ribbons to a traffic flare. The red flame from the flare reflected by the balloons gave the appearance of a large pulsating red object floating over Red Rock Canyon outside the Las Vegas Valley in Nevada.

Right under the Vegas reference in wiki:

--------------------------------------------------

A direct translation of the title is sometimes given as "Ninety-Nine Air Balloons", but the song became known in English as "Ninety-Nine Red Balloons". The title "99 Red Balloons" almost scans correctly with the syllables falling in the right places within the rhythm of the first line of lyrics, although Neunundneunzig (99) has one syllable more than "ninety-nine".

The lyrics of the original German version tell a story: 99 balloons are mistaken for UFOs, causing a general to send pilots to investigate. Finding nothing but balloons, the pilots put on a large show of fire power. The display of force worries the nations along the borders and the war ministers on each side encourage conflict to grab power for themselves. In the end, a cataclysmic war results from the otherwise harmless flight of balloons and causes devastation on all sides without a victor, as indicated in the denouement of the song: "99 Jahre Krieg ließen keinen Platz für Sieger," which means "99 years of war left no room for victors." The anti-war song finishes with the singer walking through the devastated ruins of the world and finding a single balloon. The description of what happens in the final line of the piece is the same in German and English: "Denk' an dich und lass' ihn fliegen," or "I think of you and let it go."

One of those $400K sidewinders, missed the target over Lake Huron. Pilot had to fire a second.
A sidewinder is a weapon designed to home in on an infrared signature, just not the ideal weapon for this.

I'm still hanging on to the idea these things need to get down to a certain height, and it seems even then we don't have exactly the right weapon. Why would we?

But i could be wrong, maybe shooting down something at 100,000 feet is a piece of cake. After all, not an expert.

I do, however, know some history, so without looking it up, two things that make me wonder about the current situation ...

At the beginning of WWI, they could not shoot down the Zeppelins bombing England. They didn't have what they needed at all, for about 2 years. The Zeppelins were state of the art, in development for a long time. Airplanes were still almost at the experimental stage. The first ones to shoot at each other were just pilots using pistols or rifles in the cockpit. To shoot down a Zep., they needed to be more advanced, enough to reach altitude. When they were able to do that, they still did little damage, causing leaks that the Germans were prepared to deal with. So they invented incendiary rounds to use, and still couldn’t shoot them down. Finally they figured out the pilot needed to create a zone where the hydrogen and air could mix together, then the pilot needed to make another pass hitting that zone with incendiaries. Finally they shot one down!

They also needed to develop sighting and tracking methods, searchlights, and AA guns, all this was from scratch.

In the Cold War, the Russians could not shoot down the U2s at first. If they sent up the most advanced and appropriate fighter to do it, it couldn’t reach the same altitude if it had armaments. Finally they developed SAMs that could and did do it.

These balloons that are up there at 80-100,000 feet or more would need a SAM or a fighter with just the right weapon to shoot it down… if a fighter, a weapon that would go from about 60,000 feet up to another 20-40. Do we have such a weapon? This all seems a little unexpected. Does the military want the Chinese to know what we have? Have they found out from all this?

Fight fire with fire in this case. Send a helium flying device after it with its own propulsion system, and appropriate takedown weapon. Or laser it from a plane.
