Star Trek did a little bit better than that.

Anyway, TV budgets have never been as high as A-list movie budgets. It's just that today visual effects are cheaper. So today's shows look a lot more polished than even big budget old movies like Ghostbusters or even the first Alien movie.

And Qui Gon Jin (sp?) in the very bad, yet not as bad the next two, first SW prequel uses a Gillette women's razor as a cell phone/radio. Old ideas die hard :P
