Popping an overinflated balloon is louder than a 12 ga shotgun.

There must be two components to how loud a sound is, like there's both voltage and amperage in electricity. If you shoot a shotgun it can be heard for miles, if there's hills there, a big echo , etc. I'm willing to make a large wager this cannot be achieved with a standard balloon used with kids.

This assumes the claim is accurate, the article is just a bunch of alarmism I suspect. They like to get women going on this stuff and psuedo-science works well on them too

If you shoot a shotgun with projectiles into the air would the projectiles add lots of noise as they travel? Particularly if you fire upward, the sound could spread to a much larger area with less interference from the surroundings.

I would think that would depend on whether or not the projectiles were sub or supersonic.

I have conflicting observations on the whole thing. I’ve had my ears ring from a fire cracker but not from a balloon. However, I’ve had my ear actually hurt after someone coming up and clap their hands next to my ear.

some ammo is superloaded at two or threetimesnormal load. confined spaces provide sharp crisp echoes in quick succession..

news item about florida's Brighline being wor; most dangerous raiload dur to grade rossings, but the UK has those safely gates with few accidents, so is it the oldgeezer drivers? handicapped regs may reduce speeds to a non-marketable crawl? Would rainwater rights make the railroads more profitable? should railroads be linear but parking lots and stations more akin to turntables? or dedicated corridors?
Brightline at least has accepted the notion that segments must be economically viable on their own and not merely have a terminus tu terminus focus.

I'd like to see brightline operate free of old geezer/handicapped/brats or photogaphy restictions.(ofcourse the Disneyland spur will be kid friendly).

The main thing is TIMING bof trains. ruh hour can be eay to beat.

I always wondered how people could misjudge something as big as a train. Yet it appears that may be the very reason.

Quote:
Drivers are good at estimating the speed of other cars. But research from accidents at train crossings has shown that drivers are not good at estimating the speed of oncoming trains, which are much bigger. “Our brains are calibrated to treat a train like a car,” he said, “but it’s going faster than it looks.”

Maybe it’s similar to the Vegas sign effect. Casino signs outside are so oversized, that you can think it’s a shorter walk than it really is.

Pretty major achievement I think, unless it's really costly, then it's less likely to be used.
