Charcoal Kilns in Death Valley

the link says "Evidently either other fuel sources were located or it was found to be more profitable to ship the raw ore elsewhere for processing"

As soon as coke was available at all, it would have been used instead, from what I know about it.

I went here for a wedding. I think that these boulders on the beach are unique in their size. Most beach boulders have been worn down.

My uneducated guess is northern San Diego County, but I would go as far north as Malibu if I could.

I guess we should look for a rising and somewhat recent coastline such as Central America or Baja, California.
However, Baja, California is flat. Peruvian lake? Looks like a seaside beach though.
Africa has been around for a long time and I guess what started out as Boulders would by now be grains of sand, the trouble is that I swear I've seen this photo and can't get Capetown out of my mind.

So against all geology and erosion knowledge... I vote for Capetown.

I don't know about South Africa, but in Europe men wear bathing suits that look a thong. While that guy is definitely wearing an American style bathing suit. I'd suspect they are more likely to follow European fashion in South Africa than American.

The boulders were not disgorged by a volcano or carried here by an Ice Age glacier. They are in the Western Hemisphere.

No peeking at the URL, but here is another image

They look granite to me, but that clue doesn't help me much. Geology is not my strong suit. Seems to me there is a lot of granite at Big Sur, but that photo didn't look like there were big cliffs, and it seemed too warm and sunny for there.

Maybe Georgia, the location of Stone Mountain.

It is granite, and I think the formation is unique in the world. It may be impossible to guess, as there are many volcanic places in the world. so I will narrow it down.

The only beaches I've been on that map are Curacao, Panama, and Costa Rica. That photo doesn't look like any of those beaches. Curacao was very dry, and Panama and Costa Rica didn't have been granite boulders on the beach. At least the few I went to.

At this point my guess is one of the eastern Caribbean islands. Having been to none of them, I don't know which have that much flora.

And you would be correct. Specifically it is the southern end of Virgin Gorda in an area known as "The Baths" and "FallenJerusalem".
