I can't speak for London mice, but the ones that live in the NYC subways are filthy grey ones.

I roughly calculate the value of lost productivity to the Brooklyn shutdown at half a million dollars. Why do we lose that much over two cats but don't mind eating a chicken or hamburger? Personally, I value life according to how intelligent and human-like it is.

The underground mice are probably filthy and grey as well. But they are the subject of children's cartoons, and of pranks. They get anthropomorphised and suddenly they are harder to eradicate.

You'd think most people understand mice are vermin and Jerry and Mickey are just cartoon fantasies.

On the other hand, cats are often portrayed negatively in cartoons.

Well back to my whale story. Whales get trapped by ice. It has nothing to do with the destruction that mankind did on the various species of whales for baleen, meat, and oil. But we have a collective guilt, so much to the point that it affects international relationships.

I've always wondered is said guilt has anything to do with so many Indian casinos.

I think so.

I don't know if you remember the Walking Purchase a very famous fraudulent theft of land of over a million acres done by the sons of William Penn. When the descendants of the Indians sued to get it back about 9 years ago, the court said that they agreed that it was fraud, but the case was nonjusticiable . So even if it was fraud, it was outside of the authority of the court to grant restitution because the laws that created the court didn't exist 50 years before the country was created.

On the 100th anniversary the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, apologizes to Native Hawaiians on behalf of the people of the United States for the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii on January 17, 1893... and the deprivation of the rights of Native Hawaiians to self-determination. That said, the US government is very unlikely to allow the restoration of the Kingdom, and secession from the USA.

Casinos are an easy way to acknowledge that past actions were fraudulent and illegal, and to offer compensation, without actually giving up territory.

I have no wonder about it, 100% certain it does. The average American over 40 thinks of that "Crying Indian" in the pollution commercial when they picture an Indian.
