This is the first El Camino in 1958. These
were not cool cars in the 60's, not till
the mid 70's did they catch on. Weren't
the first low riders El Caminos?

Instead of selling it as a sports truck, sell it as an alternative to a small car.

You know it has like 500hp, right? Lol

That the sort of "small car alternative" I can really get behind XD

Maybe in my younger days, now not so much. I'm more about hauling crap now. Never was for the "look" of a truck. More a convertible guy.

I think lowriders pre-date the El Camino.

You ever see a modern one up close? I ain't much for huge cars that ride like s#$%, but I give mad respect for the time and detail that goes into some of the better creations. Some of them I've spent 30 minutes just reveling in the paint detail alone, forget airbags and wiring and all that jazz.

My painter cousin built one out of a 2000's Silverado. Got the tiny, chain link steering wheel, pink, leopard print shag on the dash, some 30 layers of candy / flake / ghost paint, grinders to shower sparks when he drops it at speed... insane amount of time and money.

I would like airbags. I'd like to be a lot lower when driving with the ability to pop back up to go off road. But if I want attention, I'll just remove the muffler. Don't need to be hopping all over the place.

I was right and wrong. Lowriders appeared
after WWII, in the 40's. But I only consider
them lowriders if they have the hydraulics,
and they didn't appear till after 1958.

The Chevy Impala was a perfect design
for hydraulics because it had an X frame,
and an El Camino was a modified Impala.
GM cars from 1960-75 make the best
lowriders because they're easy to modify.

Clearly I am not a car guy so I have no idea why anyone would want that big of engine. The car I rented last week had a 1.0 liter 65 HP engine.

A car caught my attention the other day. Just a little compact sedan. Something about the contours caught me; it looked "sporty", but the overall shape was just wrong. Too tall, too...fat. As it pulled out all I could see was the hood scoop. It just looked "off". It looked like the WRX STi's scoop; kinda ugly but at least actually functional. But I couldn't peg that car.

It finally passed and I caught the badge. Chevy Volt.

I'll give you time to think, maybe you'll "get it"...

Yup, that's it. This one was a deep blue, with black custom rims. Probably some other trim and accoutrements. It actually looked pretty OK, at least enough to catch my attention. Plus, slingin' in the 'burbs as I do, I get to see all sorts of fun cars. One of my guys has an NSX, and the guy right next door has a Subaru BRZ. You never see any of those; in fact, that road is the only place I've ever seen either in the flesh.

So I see this, and I'm like "hmmm". But it's just "off". Then the scoop. Then the badge...

Either the guy is a complete bellend, a hipster taking irony to the extreme, or my kind of guy (trolling others to the max).

Shoot just get a car where you stick your legs out the bottom like the Flintstones.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?
