Interesting article on typecasting. on yahoo.

Danny Trejo is mentioned as someone who played the same role in over 200 movies. Of course, for a
guy who was in and out of jail for 11 years, including San Quentin, just being an actor who is working all the time and making a good living is pretty impressive.

Michelle Rodriguez says that she is not afraid of being typecast, and deliberately takes similar roles in every movie.

I don't know if some of the older movie stars worried about being typecast as much. I think they figured that movie goers expected a brand.

Although some of them hated their typecasting.

I think it depends upon how much they sell it for.

One actor took a part in a commercial (Regional) and became so well known he couldn't show up for auditions even under fake names.

Dwayne Johnson is 2013's highest-grossing actor is being posted around the internet. He wasn't mentioned in the "typecast" group presumably because of his role in "Tooth Fairy" plus "Escape from Witch Mountain"

Plus Johnson's four movies together totaled $1,293.50 which only barely beat the $1,215.44 of Iron Man 3.

$788.70 Fast & Furious 6
$375.70 G.I. Joe: Retaliation
$86.20 Pain and Gain
$42.90 Snitch

"Forbes reported that in 2012 The Rock cleared over $36 million dollars. This is the same man that only about 15 years ago had to sleep on a mattress that he found in a local dumpster."

Gotta love this country..
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.
