Secondhand Lions

It is about two ageing adventure-seeking eccentric uncles played by Robert Duvall and Michael Caine, and their nephew played by Haley Joel Osment who comes to live with them for a while. Kyra Sedgwick plays his mom.

A good family film, sorta plays like a little light fantasy. The family enjoyed it.

Split

A new M Night Shyamalan thriller.

I enjoyed it. It's nothing amazing, but it's entertaining and I thought James McAvoy gave a great performance.

But.... the best thing was the very last scene.

Massive (but awesome) spoiler:

Bruce Willis shows up playing his character from Unbreakable! It seemed to be setting up a sequel where he will go head to head against James
McAvoy's character from this movie....

Star Wars: Episode 8 has an official title:

The plural of Jedi is Jedi, so this title could refer to one or more Jedi.

That means the 9th movie is going to be about... Gungans?

It might be misdirection.

In any case, if that is the title, then here's a prediction: Luke will not survive to appear on Ep. IX. Likely he'll do as Kenobi did in Ep. IV.

It is the official title. Disney announced it.

It's been hiding in plain sight all along...

Rangers!

They're the closest thing to Jedi in a fictional universe. Come, they take meditation classes early on.

It might be an alternative fact.

But there are two Jedi now: Luke and Rey. Luke costs too much and is too old to carry the lead, therefore if there is to be one last Jedi, he has to come back on Ep. IX as a force ghost.

I'm curious as to if/how they will handle force ghosts in this movie.

There have been rumors that Ewan McGregor will make an appearance (he did record a line for Rey's force vision thing in The Force Awakens)... but I can't see the fans reacting well to a Hayden Christensen cameo.

After Rogue One, I wouldn't be surprised if they have Ewan McGregor do motion capture for a CGI version of Alec Guinness.

It's like the android with the white blood in Alien movies: they have to.

I'd like a Jar Jar Binks cameo where he gets killed ;)

That was a horrible idea from the start. execution aside, what's wrong with re-casting roles? There's been talk already about re-casting Leia. That might eb a good idea, if the story requires it. I'd hate it if Leia dies offstage or, worse, between movies.
