USA Swimming/University of Memphis study found ethnic differences
68.9% of African-American children with no or low ability to swim
57.9% of Hispanic children
41.8% of white children
Study quizzed 2,000 children and parents in six US cities
CDC recorded 3,443 fatal accidental drownings in 2007
Drowning is second greatest cause of accidental death in children under 14
African-American children aged 5 to 14 are 3.1 times more likely to drown

In 2010, six African-American teenagers drowned in a single incident in Louisiana, prompting soul-searching about why so many young black Americans can't swim.

Is this comedian being racist? His whole act is based around racial stereotypes.

I'll probably go see Wonder Woman tomorrow, before the net becomes rife with spoilers.

Still, one early review mentions a goal in the film is to stop WWI. I'd no idea Diana could infuse politicians and generals with brains! :)

The desire to stay out of WWI was supported by President Wilson, delaying entry until April 1917, roughly three years after it began on 28 June 1914. The war was over on 11 November 1918.

The USA lost about twice as many men as Canada despite having a population ~ 13X higher.

Nation Combat Deaths and Missing in Action | Total Military deaths (from all causes)
Canada 56,638 56,639 to 64,996 | 0.81% to 0.93% of nation
USA 53,402 116,708 | 0.13% of nation

The USA ended up losing far more people to the flu epedemic, and it is often called a "forgotten war" in the USA.

Not every Olympic swimmer is going for the gold:

I like this: 'desire to stay out of the war'.

Those with a desire to stay out of war generally do so.
In Korea, it was obvious the Chinese would cross the Yalu River... all we had to do was stay the hell out of South Korea.
Making an intermediate choice of supporting South Korea was never an option, it was an illusion.

WW2: 'desire to stay out of the war'
Then it was simple. Allow the Empire of Japan to continue its war in Manchura or not. One or the other.
Turning off the scrap steel was clearly going to cause the Japs to attack. FDR knew it and longed for it. Jews knew it and longed for it.
The entire Japanese merchant marine was marching across the Pacific and the last of them would cross the international date line by Dec 8th, the day of the attack. It was obvious. If anyone really wanted to stay out of the war they would have continued to supply Japan with scrap steel.

WW1: 'desire to stay out of war'?
Heck a ship loaded with mules received an escort but the Lusitania did not. Ads were taken out in American newspapers.
America made alot of money from the war but lost a great deal of its ideals to Patriotism and 'Liberty Cabbage'.

Obviously skin color is no impediment to athletic achievement.

Undoubtedly access to swimming pools is a big factor in rates of children that learn to swim. Probably decisions about where to swim is also a big factor in drowning rates. I am willing to bet more black children try to swim in rivers where undercurrents are extremely strong.

But we were talking about stereotypes and the use of them in comic routines or even in conversation.
