Only other horror was small drink & popcorn for $12.55.

The movie "It" is at $266,338,881 domestic revenue for day 17.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was about there at day 21-22
$251,851,666 / 17
$255,213,302 / 18
$259,343,955 / 19
$262,131,456 / 20
$264,906,805 / 21
$268,885,759 / 22

So "It" is almost certain to beat Spiderman, in a triumph for R-rated Horror fans.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was at that earning level on day 14
$266,737,474 / 14

Wonderwoman was above that amount on day 17
$275,095,580 / 17

So it is unlikely that "It" will defeat GG2 or Wonder Woman. There is a possibility, as this movie is defying all expectations.

But of course, the accountant's heart go "pitter pat" when they look at production budgets.

It :Production Budget: $35 million
Despicable Me 3: Production Budget: $80 million
The LEGO Batman Movie:Production Budget: $80 million
Logan: Production Budget: $97 million
Dunkirk: Production Budget: $100 million
Wonder Woman: Production Budget: $149 million
Beauty and the Beast (2017): Production Budget: $160 million
Spider-Man: Homecoming : Production Budget: $175 million
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Production Budget: $200 million
The Fate of the Furious :Production Budget: $250 million

I think Pet Cemetery was King's scariest movie at least. The new "It" beats it.

You can tell when a scene really works in a nearly full theater, as people make quite a bit of rustling noise settling down in their seat after a fright scene.

I saw It last weekend.

It was better than most adaptations of Stephen King books. I've read the book and can say that it would be challenging to make a movie out of it. That said, I thought the movie was good but not great. It did not scare me very much. Keep in mind I'm 52 and have seen hundreds of horror movies so may be jaded and difficult to scare anymore. I loved the scenes with the clown but much like the book, the story is told slowly with much of the material devoted to character development. In other words, the movie drags a bit in places.

My compliments to whoever played Pennywise the clown and wish he had more screen time. Then again, I think they kept it to a minimum because the imagination is much scarier than anything on screen. Remember how everyone was afraid to go to the beach after Jaws came out? If you watch the movie, the shark actually gets very little screen time and usually you just see a fin.

The actress who played the girl was good too. However, somehow I didn't feel a sense of chemistry between the cast. Then again, it is challenging material.

I hope nobody will mind me saying that the movie only goes through the part of the book when the characters were kids. Part 2 will obviously deal with what happens after Pennywise wakes from it's 27 year nap.

They announced last night that It: Chapter 2 will be released on 9/6/19.

No word on any casting for the adult roles yet.

I'm still rooting for Jessica Chastain as adult Bev...

I agree that the movie isn't scary. It's more "fun" to me, almost like an action movie. It has some great set pieces (the opening scene with Georgie, the sequence in Neibolt house).

However, I watched it again last weekend and as I was leaving, there was a group of 4 people (two in their 20s, the other two looked like their parents maybe?) saying it was the "scariest movie they'd ever seen." So YMMV...

I'm sure it would scare the hell out of little kids, but you still believe you see dark things in the closet or that something is under your bed.

The scariest movie I ever watched never had anything graphic, just some unseen monster who scratched at doors outside of rooms people were in. But I was like 9, and watching a TV in our garage at night by myself.

In the 50's it was the W of O, I was scared
to death of witches for years after that.
I had nightmares forever about that movie.
There were no other scary movies on TV,
none that parents would let you watch.

Same here. We watched it for several years when it came on and it scared the begeezus out of me every time.

And that was before I knew what the show was about.

The opening scene was the best and scariest of the movie. The rest of the movie I kept waiting for something to exceed it but just never happened.

My 15-year-old son says the movie seems well like by his fellow high school students. I could see being more scared by this movie at a younger age, especially given that all the victims are kids.
