Saw the last Ghostbusters movie, finally.
I thought, how bad could it be. Good god,
what a pile of dog crap. I made it 1 hour
and gave up. The four women were awful,
not funny, no chemistry, stupid dialog,
made me actually groan out loud at times.

Didn't make a profit, cost 144mil, made 228mil,
lost money big time. It was like the women
were trying to be men in a buddy picture,
and they ended up looking pathetic and
desperate and unfunny. Terrible movie.

This girl does pro reviews and she lets this
movie have both barrels:

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Yeah, that one was rough. Terrible script, and no one who could rescue it. I had the feeling that the producers were thinking, “Well, we’ve gotten this far, we have to finish it.” And then they went all in on the promotion, figuring they could bluff people into thinking it was good.

When will they learn that nobody
wants to see mostly unattractive
(was the black actor a man or a
woman, I couldn't tell) women
strutting around being snarky
and acting like men. It makes
them look and sound ridiculous.

Everyone was just trying too hard. The best thing about the original was how giddily off the cuff it seemed.

Ghostbusters --- really too bad Rick Moranis quit the movie business.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

"The Friends of Eddie Coyle"

Somehow I managed to miss this movie until now. 1973.

Robert Mitchum, Peter Boyle.

Crime/ Boston mob. Not sure what movies I would compare it to though. Character driven/ suspense/ spurts of action.

Still highly rated on Rotten tomatoes.

The year after he did Eddie Coyle, Peter Boyle made Young Frankenstein

Most people know Peter Boyle as Frank Barone, but he was also a terrific dramatic actor.

I never got used to Boyle as Frank,
he played too many dark characters
before that. I think he was a poor
choice for that part.

Peter Boyle had the producers in stitches with his rage filled audition but it turns out he wasn’t acting at all. He was in a filthy mood after he got lost on the way to the audition.
Quote: Boyle
“I was out here with (in LA) and my kids were visiting from back East because I live back in Manhattan and my girls go to school there,” said Boyle. “But we couldn’t get on the lot. Then we couldn’t get a parking space. Then when we finally got all of that worked out, we went to where the office and they said, no, the auditions are being held in another place.“So when I walked in, Ray and Phil were there and I was enraged.”

I thought that it helped a lot. Most sitcoms are too syrupy. It helps to have some genuine darkness to keep the show on an even keel.

Ray and Phil were there

Phil is Phil Rosenthal, the brains behind
Raymond. He has a food travel show on
Nflix. His family is what the show is based
on. Except he is extremely Jewish and
Raymond was Italian. He shows his elderly
Jewish parents on the show, and the dad
is not Frank Barone at all, he's smart and
funny. His mom, however, could easily be
Marie Barone.
