Cruise was 55 when Fallout was shot
last summer. He drives the studio
nuts because he does all his own
stunts. People say he's always the
hardest working person in a movie,
he gives everything 110% percent.

I saw a long piece about what he went
thru making Edge of Tomorrow, how
hard it was making those big fighting
suits they wear work right. Cruise was
right there every day, making them
look like they were powered, when
they really weren't powered at at all.
They were very heavy and cumbersome.

I like Cruise in everything, never seen
him do a bad movie. Who doesn't like
Tom Cruise.

Yes he does do his own stunts. He broke his ankle on this one, causing the movie to get shut down for a little while.

He's 55 and doing stunts for guys
in their 20's. That's what happens
when you stay in top physical
condition all your life. He's
filming Top Gun now and then
a sci-fi called Luna Park. Nothing
like the stunts in an MP movie.
He'll be 58 when he makes the
next one.

I've always thought that Tom Cruise carries his stardom in front of the camera. In other words, you can see the acting. Not saying I don't like his movies, but am not the biggest Cruise fan in the world.

Breaking Bad was designed to last 5 seasons. They dragged it out ... a whole ep about Walter chasing a fly.

People who've known him for
years say he's the most down
to earth movie star they know.
He's never uppity, he never
acts like he deserves special
treatment, always rolls up his
sleeves and works. Like many
big stars, Cruise plays himself
in his movies. John Wayne,
Rock Hudson, James Garner,
really handsome men often
don't have to play anybody
but themselves.

I think the Cruise is the only movie star in the world that has been able to carry a franchise to over half a billion dollar average without being part of a much larger franchise.
$694.70 Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
$682.70 Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation
$546.40 Mission: Impossible II
$457.70 Mission: Impossible
$397.90 Mission: Impossible III
$555.88 Average

Stars like Hugh Jackman carry their character to an average of almost half a billion, but they belong to a much bigger ensemble.
$748 X-Men: Days of Future Past
$619 Logan
$459 X-Men: The Last Stand
$415 The Wolverine
$408 X2: X-Men United
$373 X-Men Origins: Wolverine
$296 X-Men
$474 Average
----- Cameo
$544 X-Men: Apocalypse
$354 X-Men: First Class

I think you can say the same thing about many of the biggest movie stars. You not going to see a promotional poster that says "Dwayne Johnson as you've never seen him before".

Out of a list of 81 films, Deniro's biggest domestic hits were Meet the Fockers / Meet the Parents / Shark Tale, so superstardom and acting ability don't go together very often.

I think Leonardo DiCaprio has a wide range. Same with Heath Ledger.

I thought I read somewhere about the fly episode.

Quote:
On the surface, "Fly" is -- as other commenters pointed out -- a bottle episode, meaning it was shot pretty much entirely on standing sets. And yes, it was written with the intention of saving some money so there would be more to spend on other, more expensive episodes.

When shows go over budget or are going to have an expensive episode later on, but they are series, they use these kind of episodes to get on budget.

I skip it entirely now. Just like I FF
thru any scenes involving Skyler's
sister, or Skyler and her affair,
or any scenes with their teenage
kid. Makes the show much more
enjoyable for me.
