I would give up Nflix every time over Prime. They have better everything, especially original series. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Nflix now has 500 episodes of dramatic series to Prime's 200 episodes. HBO has been making series for over 35 years, so I am not sure what their count is. But clearly Nflix is very concerned about quantity. I've read that their goal is to get to 50% their own material in a few years. They are expecting that most broadcasters will withhold their best material as they develop competing streaming services. |

There are half a dozen series I'm following on Prime, 2 on Nflix. Most Nflix series suck so badly I don't make it thru the pilot. Also, they do things like call a series 'Nflix Original', when it started on another network. Like Peaky Blinders. "But clearly Nflix is very concerned about quantity." Over quality, for sure. Do they ever turn down an idea for a series? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Supposedly when they copied "House of Cards" from the BBC thriller they were basing their decisions based on what people were watching. I know that I watched a lot of British shows when I first saw Netflix. But that seemed to follow when they went to a Werewolf series and a Women in prison series |

First season of LH was good, the others sucked. First 3 seasons of HoC were good, 4 sucked and I haven't seen it since. Could not watch HG. Orange was so dumb, so unrealistic, I gave up after 4 eps. There's a reason Nflix got rid of all reviews, their original series were getting trashed, I would see 3 very negative reviews for every good one. Now you have to take your chances or go to IMBD and read the reviews there. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | I watched the new Ron White Netflix special, " If you quit listening I'll shut up". It was no where near as funny as his older acts. A lot of it was not funny at all. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

It seems like Netflix is paying established comedians big money to make shows for them. That is 62 shows already this year. After three years they introduced the first Spanish language standup special, and now are expanding into Portuguese and Korean. A lot of them have been disappointing.

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25010 | Finally saw Deadpool. It was very entertaining, it masterfully mocks how ridiculous superhero movies are. How they take themselves sooooo seriously. The humor was very good, lots of clever innuendo. I actually LOL in places. At times I thought I was watching Jim Carrey in Mask. Same kind of lines, and he was making the same moves. The 1st and 2nd installments made the same amount of money, but the 2nd cost twice as much to make. 3rd one coming out in 2020. As I suspected, in the dialog scenes, it's Ryan Reynolds in the DP costume. In all the action scenes, about a third of the movie, it's a stunt man. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
